Downgraded
Ok, so I was looking forward to playing this, having recently been introduced to the series, and I've played all of them.
1st one was good for what it was, and intro to the story. 2nd one was a full fledged game, and was ahmazing. 3rd... not so much. Let's break it down:
Bad move switching from spacebar to mouse for town actions. Everything was layed out on the keyboard nicely, but unless you're left handed the mouse thing is going to be a pain. If you gave the option of alternate control schemes, however, I'm sure this problem would clear right up.
Music was good overall, hated the town themes, 'cept for the bars, I liked the jazzy feel. Battle music was as great as always.
It was pretty for a flash, even on medium settings, while it run with almost no noticeable lag.
Battle controls were fabulous. One thing I must say, though, is that when there's one enemy left on the screen, I don't like having to mouse over and click on the sometimes miniscule enemy when it's obvious I'm going to attack it.
Frankly, shopping in this game sucks. I want to go inside the stores! I want to be able to talk to the people! The only places where you can actually go inside are the taverns. (You know, the buildings where you can't interact with anything).
There's so much of everything that you seem more distant from the people. You can talk to them a lot less. Now given, I'm sure you didn't have time to put in things for everyone to say or something of the like, I just thought I might include it.
Barrels and vases and puddles, oh my! Why can't I look into them? Or inspect them? Not good, I miss that from the second game.
And, as a final note, Gustave is still an unmotivated prick for the most part. But I've grown to love him that way XD
