Reviews for "=Simple Button Tutorial="

ugh! my head hurts!

I"m pretty shure this is very helpful but how the hell do you do a screenshot? (i no wat it is) It is very simple...even for me. =P

Phantox responds:

You press PrintScreen SysRq and paste it on paint or any other program.

Alright

-Good-
A decent tutorial on buttons here. You mentioned A few different movie control AS that can be placed on buttons. I liked how you had screenshots for each step, but it was kinda annoying to have to click a button to see each screen shot.

-Bad-
I thought the layout of this movie was bland and confusing. The gray BG color made the movie more boring than it was. I thought the screen shots could have been fit into the instructions by cropping out the parts that weren't needed. When I was going through this tutorial I noticed that the music started over lapping which got pretty annoying.

-Overall-
A decent tutorial, but the layout needs work.

I am aware of the sucky background but I didn't want to make something very fancy and take up unneeded file size.

Thanks for the review.

Very Basic

A button is something that is quite simple to make, I realise this is for beginners but the first thing that hits me is the navigation and layout of this, to be honest I think it is quite poor and if not a little intimidating to someone who would be new. I would suggest keeping it simple and having one fram for each part, includ a screenshot on that frame as oppose to having to click a button to see it.

You wrote something about buttons, nice but maybe a little pointless, that could have been mentioned on the menu. Also the actionscript can be done diffrently, it might be worth mentioning Frame Lables with the gotoAndPlay script.

The blocks of text aren't broken down to well or in a very easy to read layout, they could be presented better in my opinion, the whole presentation could be improved with some nice looking buttons, a nice background, just something more plesent to look at really and some work on working and details would be nice. Good luck writting future tutorials.

Phantox responds:

Well I made the screen shots on different frames because if I made them all in 1 frame it could be hard for the reader to understand what they have to do. I thought it would be easier for the user to click on a button when they didn't understand on what to do.

Anyways, thanks for the review.

It's quite a good tutorial and you managed to write it in an "entertaining" way. I appreciate your effort as it seems that most tutorials (not necessarily flash tuts) are mostly quite boring.

However, the flash gives out a very "messy" impression.
I think it would be better to put the buttons in the main and sub menu on the right side of the text. This way all the buttons would be lined up pretty well and it would look a lot less "messy".
I also missed some descriptions or images on your buttons, so that it would be obvious what a button does before I click it (the word "next" on the button that brings me to the next page would tell me exactly that even before I click the button). This would also help to "clean the flash up" a bit.
Then, a button that takes me straight back to the main menu would be a nice thing to have, too. This way I would have to click around so much, if I want to read "Making a button" and then "Action Script" after that for example.

So, the tutorial is quite helpful but it needs a better layout.

Phantox responds:

Thanks for the review. If I make another one, I'll do what you said about adding the buttons on a sub menu.

Again, thanks for the review.

Informative

Quite a good tutorial, with my only complaint being that it was a bit plain and somethings were placed wierdly. But other than that an amazing lesson, that helped me out, and would help noobs alike.

I liked how it was presented, even though some of the buttons were hard to find some times.

Overall, alot of effort went into this, and it shows, great work
