Reviews for "The Brass Seal: Ep 1a"

Nice!!

Very good, I liked the story pretty funny, i loved the graphics even though it was wavy in some places (when i say wavy i mean bit bad). Very good flash I hope you make more and prepared to watch the second episode.

lmao

Yeah, I regret not getting a snack when I see the loading screen, especially since I havn't eaten breakfast yet, pretty nifty idea. :P Anyhow, movie is great. A bit big, but theres a lot of content, so it's understandable. Very nice first flash animation! I'm off to watch part two. keep up the good work!

Pretty cool look to it

Interesting so far.

The story is pretty entertaining, and it's interesting enough to get me to watch part b of this episode. So far, I'd certainly agree that there are rough spots, but they don't really take that much away from the story itself. Although I suppose animation could be a bit better, and background art be a bit of a higher quality. So far, I like it.

punbeard81 responds:

Yeah this one has a rough spot or two, you can really see my progression and there is about a 5 month gap between episode 2 and soon to be posted episode 3 and you can notice a quality change. As for the background, yeah I'm stugling to find a style that suits it. I had a more realistic comic style but it really bogs down the movie. If your good with backgrounds and have some ideas I'm all ears. Thanks for checking it out and reviewing.

Good.

My advice:

-Balance your sound levels better so the sound effects aren't so damn loud.

-Make the buildings look less like crap. (you took all that time to make the cars look good, why would you half-ass it on some awful cartoony looking buildings?)

-Get a better mic.

-Get rid of the P-pops. When you hold the mic too close p-sounds make a popping noise. They're a bitch to edit, the easiest fix is to do a retake and either hold the mic farther away or cover it with a cloth if it dosn't already have a foam cover.

-Background music couldn't hurt. (Non-Lyrical, unless it's part of the toon. like the car-scene)

That's all I could think of for now. All-in-all I liked it, your characters are funny and well developed.

punbeard81 responds:

The glass break noise and others make your ears bleed ehh? Yeah mine too. Most of that comes from me not knowing what I was doing and topping out the original files so I don't have good versions to edit anymore. I fix a bit of it as it progresses and you'll be happy to know I got a decent mic that makes my home made sound effects a little less painful. Thanks for the tip about the p pops, I'll make sure to do it.

I'm really bad at picking out background music for just the regular parts where people talk so I tend to leave it out and only use it when I need it for energy or oomph, assuming that's spelled right. The backgrounds were once realistic but I changed it for a new style, clearly it isn't working :)

Thanks for the tips.
