Reviews for "Fear Unlimited 2 Issue 1"

epic

just flippin epic!

Pretty good.

I was a bit surprised when I saw this in the portal; I loved the first one but heard nothing about a sequel coming out. I tried playing it last night, and found the same bug as mentioned below; that double jump is a bitch. After attempting to re-play it, I found an even weirder one. If you click new game but wait at the tutorial screen, your character (or the enemy) seems to start saying things, and then when you do start to play, all enemies that spawn immediately die. I got 21 kills with zero damage.

Anyway, onto the game review. At first, it seemed to be roughly like the original. After a bit of playing around, I noticed that there are a lot more moves you can use, and a much larger space to maneuver around. The extra moves seemed to complicate things a lot, but I guess it just requires some getting used to. Being able to jump with the arrow keys would be a whole lot easier though, maybe the up arrow for jumping and the down arrow for blocking? Apparently D is block as well as attack, which I didn't really get. I'd assume that you're meant to press it right before getting hit, but it would give you more control to have separate attack/defend buttons.
The shop was a good idea. It added a new dimension to the game, and gave me more of a reason to get better ratings. Being able to upgrade your favourite weapons is really good, before you'd find a better sword and your old one became pretty much obsolete (at least I THINK you can do that, I haven't checked myself yet). I liked being able to use items too, those would be handy for the long, difficult boss battles.
The other new features were alright I suppose. All I really got to test out was grappling and stealing your enemy's weapon, which doesn't seem that useful. Maybe I'd do that if I was trying to weaken them, or if they had some kind of special weapon... Generally I'd just stick with my own sword though. Taunting is only good if you're focusing on a high rating, which would be alright for some people (not me though). Perhaps you could make it so that it heals you, and gives you a little magic too? It might already do that, I didn't notice at the time. You could even it out by making the taunt last longer. The barriers were ok, the red one is a bit pointless, but the blue one adds a puzzle aspect, which is kind of nice.

All in all, it was a good game that was spoilt by a few bugs. I think it'd be great if you fix them, but it's not much fun playing a game if it could glitch at any time. If you did test this alone, then the glitches are understandable, but you should look into finding some other people to help in the future. I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to do it, because it's a good game. I'd even be willing to help out, if you wanted.

Oh, and one quick question: Do you have any idea when (if) you'll release the next issue? Just wondering out of curiosity. I'll look forward to playing it, if there's going to be one.

This turned out to be a long review :3 I'll be surprised if many people read it.

Dizimz responds:

thanks . A real review. though next issue, please play it front to back okay?

Im getting a little agitated. Not with you though.

Stealing does a few things.

A - It makes it so the enemy cannot shield against you.
B - it makes him unable to attack.
C - Stolen Weapons Can be thrown.
D - Or since theyre light used in aerial attacks. Its a crutch for people yet to unlike more powerful weapons.
E - The kill prompt will make Encon do a different move than if the enemy was armed.

I dont know when the next issue will be done unfortunately. Nemesis is working on the music and Im doing concept art atm. Also working on my overdo portfolio.

I am working on the bugs. This is what happens when your beta team ditches you. those bastards.
Issue 2 will bring in some familiar faces so look forward. and right off the bat. You unlock a new weapon. Called dudagera. Which is simialar to the blades of chaos. (wasnt originally meant to be)
Dudagera is a kasari gama. which is a small sythe or sickle chained to a weight. In the end since it ended up being my fire weapon . It attacks sorta like the blades of chaos.

thanks for your time, youre one of the few NGers who knows what a review is.

uuuuuuuuuhgh

awesome but one thing i played on the easiest mode and got killed bye guy with blue flames ...

Dizimz responds:

Its a tough game i know. Unfortunately im the only beta testor. I found it all too easy :P

Great

But the first one was better.

The enemies on this game frequently attack you by surprise when they spawn and it's hellish hard to defend their attacks. Grabbing and finishing with Fatality are not good choices because you have to get VERY close to the enemy and this frequently ends on you getting hit before you can grab or finish them.

Also, sometimes when I attack with Fang Whirl, some enemies attack me in my back after the Fang Whirl is done and there's nothing I can do because Fang Whirl takes a lot of time to be finished.

It's way too easy for players to get beaten by the monks because of these flaws. It should be easier for us to defend their attacks and to grab/finish.

Nice job anyway.

Dizimz responds:

the first was not better. Learn the definition. This game aint even complete yet.

I gave you guys what you wanted. it would have been way easier to just copy and paste 1s engine. But i reworked it.

If you dont like it, im not sorry. Its your own taste i cant control that.

All im trying to do is make things their absolutebest.

And your reasoning is flawed.

nice

I didn't recognize the name at first but thanks for making a sequel. It does this weird floating thing where I can't control anything.
