Reviews for "The Dragon Game"

crappy graphics

crap graphics not to mention that the witches home in

mikeyoung responds:

That was meant to provide a slight challenge in what was otherwise a relatively simple game.

ahah!

that was so amazing...using your own sound...well its original...too short...what though...was the point in putting the name in? it was never again referred too and the other dragon like things were way to fast for an enjoyable game...to maintain that speed i would say to gradually increase the speed throughout the game...other than that hilarious i loved the drangons fire breathing noise and the *swish* but hilarious

mikeyoung responds:

Are you sure the name was never referred to again? At the end screen, the message should've said something like "Congratulations Such And Such, you avenged the dragons with a score of ____ " or something like that. If not, then as I said to a previous response, I may have uploaded the wrong version.
I can be an idiot like that sometimes.

solid gameplay but you are missing some things

hope this gets through as it is quite good but heres where to improve, first a game over screen is needed i got into -1 lives x3

secondly improve the graphics, use movie clips or the dragon/witches moving to make it look more snazzy than just single images,

thirdly, make more varied enemies, just the rock and the witches got kinda dull really quickly,

apart from that its a pretty good game ^^ i 3'd it!

mikeyoung responds:

You raise good points. I was pressed for time as it was an assessment task, which is why various things were sub par.

Hmmmmm. I think the reason for the lives going into -1 might be because I uploaded the wrong version. I had several different versions floating around on my computer and USB.
*Mental note, check that the right version is being uploaded*

Anyhoo, cheers for that :)

very subpar

There are a lot of little things to a game that make it better that you may not realize. so I would like to see an improvement, because this really wasn't that good, but like, you can obviously do it. For starts, something small that I would recommend because I like the feel of it, is to have the dragon like drift when you press a key instead of just immediately move. What you would do is have a velocity variable that is added the _x every frame and then decreased, for instance _vel *= .9; and then pressing the key just resets the velocity to the speed you want. Give it a try, see what you think

mikeyoung responds:

You know what? That's not a bad idea. Cheers :)
I will definitely take that on board.
Might be a while before I can do anything about it, but yeah.
Why didn't I think of that?

Probably took all of 10 minutes to make

Sound and graphics were uninspired, the enemies did nothing but fly at you, and I didn't even have to move up or down once I got close to the tower. Once again, a great idea ruined by poor implementation.
