Reviews for "Zelda: UO Epis:5 1of2"

slightly cloudy with a chance of fail

Over use of generic anime stereotypes and animation = fail. Lordzero is absolutely correct on the overuse of anime in animation. Though I did like what you did with the surroundings, the deku tree area was pretty neat. It's not that it was a bad movie.. just not a good one.

ScootLumpDude responds:

Animation is just moving pictures and is either liked or not liked by different people. Opinions fly all over the place. Even what you've said about anime is an opinion. Sorry. ^^;

I like it

You know, the guy with the rant isn't wrong...its just not important or really relevant. I don't recall you claiming you're a hardcore American animator/artist, this looks like it was something that was done to look cool or be fun. And it is. I like it for what it is, a cool little flash cartoon. I'm gonna go watch the rest now.

Eye poping fun!

Man

I just can't stand animation's are simply faux-anime ripoff's in their style, and I know I'm just going to get nothing but crap from everyone by saying this, because every one of you are just like the author in that you will 10 anything that is like anime. What you don't know is that I am a huge fan of all animation, so I don't like seeing almost every single good animator do the exact same thing: copy Japanese style anime.

It's not benefitial to have every single face shot of your characters to have a "dark" shade around their eyes. It's been done so often it's gotten really cliche and just looks more corney than cool. And I know Newgrounds is nothing but kids who would vote 10 on anything that looked remotely like anime so this comment is going to be shit on, but hear what I have to say next. Because of this anime obsession with the younger audience starting with people in their 20's now, American animation has become an awful anmie wannabe obsession and has lost all originality. Now there is no recognizable American style anymore, and everything on TV is shit trying to be as much like Anime as they can. No matter how much they try, it's never even close to actual Japanese animation. They have so many more animators living in Japan, and their artists are generally far better at their own style than any American artists. I know of artists in Japan who at the ages of 15 to 20 that can animate better than the WB ever could.

The japanese style of animtion was developed through the need for cheaper and cheaper costs of animation, and nobody in flash is making animations based on being cheap. I feel like I'm the only one left to sees how silly that is. Anyway, I really believe that everyone who starts here on Newgrounds and has ambition to create their own cartoon one day isn't going to go anywhere if they continue to mimic a style rather than develop their own. Ed, Edd, and Eddy; Batman, The Animated Series; and Invader Zim would have never been if their corresponding artists just drew Looney Toons all their lives. Animation is an art form, and should be taken as such. Every character in your series is just another cliche character from someone elses mind (and I don't mean from Zelda, I mean the way they act having the "shy boy" character, the "dumb strong guy" and the "asshole angry anime guy that falls over all the time"). That makes every aspect of it adopted from something else, nothing original or interesting.

And again, I'm sorry to seem like an ass, but it hurts to see good American animators make shit and see American animation in general die. Fight against "Teen Titans" and bring back "Aeon Flux"

bah

animation was weak, the voice talent was of link had two voices the talent and the clips from smash bros and the whole thing was boring...
