Reviews for "Spyware: A World Torn"

Good Concept, Needs more Work though...

It's a nice concept of your movie. Quite nice, but your downfall is the sound quality. It is really bad. It's scratchy and I have to fiddle with my speaker volume to get it right when different people talk.
It's a nice story, I really wouldn't mind you making a second version of it. That would get it up to speed quality wise. You didn't do a bad job really. Keep it up!
You're an Aussie too, right? Heheh, welcome to the club! :D

Chag responds:

I know the quality sucks, I could make it better but it rapes filesize, I think I might change it though, it should be worth the extra meg of loading. Thanks

curious

I wonder where the hell are all the linux gurus are during all this? xD Probably havnt even noticed the collapse of society.

And I wonder how well spyware would deal with the Great Disconnect of the ethernet xD

Not to mention that a cyber war wouldnt even be fought on a desktop, Spyware would have easily altered the ACL to make him incapable of being captured by the USB stick.

And why the hell would such a data intensive thing like digitizing be preformed on a windows?? It doesnt have any where near the computational strength!

Take my review with a grain of salt though cause clearly the technical inaccuracy is killing it for me, even for a futuristic setting.

Chag responds:

All will be revealed in Spyware2!

I'm figuring the Viruses get around things like Linux and OS-X once they've became a fully functioning race rather than just mindless programs

The USB issue was meant to be more story explaining how that happened, but deadlines stopped me from fully fleshing it out

And finally, the digitising machine (now called The Hyperlink) doesn't actually run on XP... What we see is some other random computer that had been taken over by the Viruses long ago, Spyware just stashed the program there for safe keeping. Meanwhile Clive tracked it down and hacked into the thing, allowing himself and Dominique to observe the confrontation between Spyware and Dren as it took place...

Thanks for reviewing! It's been a long time since anyone saw this... I'm almost embarrassed to show it to people now >_>

okay but scares me no more plz

it was okay but its kinda scarey this can really happen u know plz dont send any more like this =',(

meh....

Not bad in all. The use of the dungeon keeper theme was a bit too repetitive and I felt it weak in most scenes. Needed more exploration on that part!
As for the rest, OK.... I know its hard work to do the whole thing don't get discouraged. Just keep at it

Chag responds:

BUT THE DUNGEON KEEPER MUSIC IS SO AMAZING D:

Good, but nothing more

I will review whole thing, and summarize it at the end.
Graphic: While it is not state of art, character animation and look isn't terrible, and one can watch it to the end without twitch. Not bad,
Music: While music is pretty good, voices are pretty understandable (not some gibberish, where you need subtitles to understand anything) and sounds aren't nothing below average too, for the love of whatever you believe, why do you tortured me with that awful buzzing thing during load? I don't have fast net connection, and often during wait for flash to load I like to play something or listen to music, but now? Nuh-uh, sucker, you gonna get buzzed! If some kind of sound during loading is really needed, please, make some option to turn it off. Without that, I will rate it pretty good.
Story: and here I don't know - it's something serious or comedy? Not counting ancient storyline of AI wanting to destroy known world and handful of young heroes to the rescue, it has hell lot of logical flaws. Some examples? If that Spyware isn't omni-powerful and he seems to cannot control anything outside actual web, why don't they just plug-off cable from computers and treat him with something when he is stand-alone? why, after one of heroes is transported inside virtual reality, it's fake companion isn't after him? And what was meaning of that explosion? If it's Spyware world, wasn't it dumb to destroy these building? And why he didn't shoot that blonde guy when he was just behind him in that portal thingy? Plus, it's seems prety stupid that he could became any threat if group of kids defeated it with friggin mouse-cursor, windows window and icon!

Yesh, I know that it is sci-fi, but if you wanted something serious, there too many logic flaws, and if you wanted comedy - it's too little of gags. Take that into consideration and with some effort you will probably make something pretty famous on NG in future.

Chag responds:

You can't disconnect a virus from the internet, it's everywhere, not in a single computer so just pulling the plug wouldn't work.

Spyware wanted to make the virtual world appear as real as possible, so a section was created that resembles a city solely so it can be destroyed, Because if Dren found the program then the viruses would have been done for. So Spyware tried to make him believe that he had failed before he begun, but while Spyware was distracted with all this the others managed expose the virtual world for what it really was.

However I will agree that there are still several flaws in there.
