and that's what I'm scoring you on. but just as a reminder: if a company is brining up all these "unjustified" lawsuits in court, and the court continues to rule in favor of the plaintiff, shouldn't you be more upset at the legislature which wrote the laws in the first place? you do vote for those people, don't you? I'm just saying you might have more success thru elections
On principle
I'm giving this a zero for personal reasons, nothing against art or style.
There is practically no way to stop downloads on the internet unless your the government, and can truly 'cut' the cables. Multiple servers, no effective system to recognise downloads... you name any means to block a download and a real computer geek will laugh. Unless you mention 'sue'.
Honest. Illegal anime downloads IS piracy. Somebody out there spent long hours working out the storyline, art and all the microscpic things needed to get somethign on the market, and all your willing to pay them for it is,"Oh , I'm a fan."
Sometimes i really wish that claiming your a fan, or paying a small amount of money, will be effective in feeding the artist and their family. Not going to happen. =[
Just so you remember, ODEX was started by an anime lover. PLEASE buy your anime. I don't want to see anime artist quitting because their just dues are not paid to them.
Oh btw, if you get sued, remember the system of out-of-court-settlements. ODEX probably will drop the lawsuit if you undertake, in writing, never to do illegal downloads again. Do you honestly think ODEX is really out to sue you for cash?
Having said that, nice art, very cool transitions, interesting style to bring across your ideas. Just really don't like the stand you took.
the reason why I made this animation is because of the way ODEX handled matters on piracy. by infringing privacy of users by getting ISP to reveal their IPs , and slapping a 5000 dollar fine on the offender, is just something NOT a way to curb piracy.
ODEX didnt considered its PR effect from what it did in the beginning, now its in hotsoup for tarnishing its image to the general anime community.
basically, this animation isnt a anti-odex video, its just a metaphor on what ODEX is doing now. I am just not happy with the way ODEX handles the issue. I am not a expert in this area, but from what I read in other forums that had suggested what ODEX could had done by following what the US is doing in the anime DL problem, by doing stuff like Pay-per View or doing a much better job in the DVDs or VCDs...
I never DL anime at all cause I dont really care about the latest anime, but what I care is what this madness ODEX is doing. who knows that all the money they earn from all this fines are easily pocketed into their banks....
