Reviews for "-Lost But Not Forgotten-"

Awesome!

I still can't believe your not composing actual films.

Incredible!

Aside from having a real symphony orchestra playing this piece, I don't think it can get anymore real than what it already is! You have a great edge for orchestral music and audio mixing! Incredible skills!! You have my attention! :) It would be a great honor if you would listen to some of my recent compositions and offer me some pointers on improving my work. Thanks! -XayberOptix 5/5 10/10

Excellent Work

I don't like to write a review unless it's something worth writing about, and this song is definitely worth it. It's aptly named; I like how the song changes from intense to calm, but maintains the epic feel the whole time. I love how you aided the melody with the choir, but I think it could have used more variation the second time that section was played, (I mean variation in the instrumentation, not the melody). The tempo changes were smooth, and the dynamics were great. As for the realistic sound that you're going for, I thought it was pretty accurate. Are you using symphonic orchestra gold? Maybe try Hollywood Strings. I can't vouch for the quality, but it might be closer to what you want, (if you can cough up the cash).

On a separate note, I listened to all the songs for the Orchestral NAC, and I hope this one wins, not only because it's my favorite, but because I thought it was composed well too. Good luck, and I hope you make more classical songs like this in the future.

Superb.

I love the ebb and flow of this. The transitions were extremely well done. The whole piece was strongly emotive, stern and powerful, namely due to great use of the full dynamic range of the instruments.
I can't stress enough how much I love the dynamic flow of this piece, you really did well on it. The sharp, constant contrasting between the mellow and epic parts really gave this piece legs to stand on. And finally, the soft piano outro was a nice touch at the end to see the piece out.

My only criticism is that the piece seems to be mastered a little to hotly overall, to my ears. Especially for classical which usually tends to benefit from a little less crushing of the audio and more room for dynamic range.

At anyrate, i'm honestly surprised that this track didnt get scored higher in the NAC, this is by far my favorite piece so far.

Cheers,
Daniel

A story...an epic one.

[0:00-0:30] The army's march. Brothers against brothers, one side fighting for the old ways under a just king, missing in action during war long forgotton, and the other side fighting against everything they used to stand for. The new ruler who took the old kings place, is corrupt, power hungery. Greed and anger fuel the fires of war for him, but for some of his men, they stay not because they beleve in this man, no. They have been told there familys would suffer, if they did not for there country men and for the ways of the new empire! Some though have sought gain through the new way and seek to keep it that way. Now they meet on the ebb of battle, standing before each other some cry, some scream battle cheers, and others just wait for it to begin.[0:31-1:39] Before the charge, on the hill east, a light parts the sky. So bright it outshines the sun. A man in beautiful armor and on a white rides from the hill into there midst. All men with the old kings banner fall to ground on the faces and weep for they know who this man is. Some of men from the other side also fall but are swiftly killed dishoner to the false leader! The man in white comes down from the horse and touches some of the mens shoulders and backs, asking them to arise. All the men slowly rise to truley see there King. "You brave men, have come here today, to fight for truth. That every mans life is of worth, and disserves to be lived by his on accord, and not by the slavery that the enemy has offered! Those men have signed the warrent of there deaths! NO MERCY! for mercy for the guilty is treason to the innocent!" "Now fight!, fight for those you love, for what you beleve in, for freedom!" and in that instant the man was gone. [1:40-2:30] The battle begins. By the time it is was over the sun came out and shown on the battlefield.[2:31-3:36] The men of the kings banner had been victorious, but at a cost. These men stood for truth and for freedom and they would never be forgotten. Then the men of the kings banner looked above in the clouds. The saw the man in white, smiling and with there fallin brothers behind him as they dissappered into the clouds. End. This is what i see when i listen to this wonderful piece of music! Thank You!
