Reviews for "World of Dreams"

This game is huge

Its annoying how underrated this game is by score, the level design and artwork is genuinely beautiful! The boss fights were very creative and vehicle sections well done. Great choices for the soundtrack as well, it all came together really well to set a mood for each location.

The only small problems I had were that the players weapon felt feeble, and the camera felt twitchy at times, it would also help to be able to look downward before falling off objects. Apart from tweaking the mechanics to perfection I cant see any real room for improvement gameplay-wise here, and the graphics were brilliant.

A fair amount of work must have gone into this, and it sure has paid off, great job!

Thanks T-H! I'll be sure to flag some abusive reviews on your stuff once I'm done responding to these :P

sweet!

hahah this is a great game!
i loved it!
great job!

but one thing
i need help!
i cant figure out how to beat the guy in space
there are 2 little healther bar things left but nothing left to destroy
someone wanna help me plz? : ]

Paranoia responds:

There's always something to destroy :S Just shoot the panel things, unless there's some kind of bug.

Good game! The boss battle with 2 parts was too long, and the space shooting part was hell because of crappy aiming. My strategy for the wine cellar was run, try to avoid stuff, and jump at the last second. I died as i went through the door. That part was crap. Other then that, great game, and it had good music!

lol

i was sitting here for like a minute until i realized you had to move the guy and jump up to start the game.

Paranoia responds:

Yeah that could have been a little more self explanatory :S

I enjoyed playing this game immensely.

I had an awesome fun time playing this game. I especially enjoyed the very apt musical numbers, and the inclusion of some secrets to collect. I also especially loved the way that some barriers fell away from in front of you as you attained abilities from later in the game.

Now, at the risk of sounding nitpicky, there were two things about this game that rubbed me the wrong way.

First: The levels were very long. Most particularily since the game was clearly designed around re-doing them to hunt for secrets and there was no way to exit a level you had already completed unless you fight your way to and defeat the boss(es) again. I would perhaps suggest implementing six (or maybe even nine) smaller levels instead of the three huge ones you went with.

Second: The controls seemed rather choppy at times. I really noticed this when I stopped horizontally mid jump when firing my weapon, and when I tried to double jump when not at the absolute peak of my jump. I also found the rotating platforms in level 1 a smidge annoying due to the fact that they kept rotating (i.e. letting you fall through) if you hit them with your weapon, which combined with the cone shaped firing pattern led to a few nasty falls.

One last smal tidbit: The music was spectacular, but the sound effects definitly could have used work.

All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Thank you for sharing it with me.

Paranoia responds:

Thanks for taking the time to review. I'll certainly spend more than one hungover morning on sound effects in future :P
