Now i'm wondering, how are you supposed to encounter "missingno"s, and as Sparkyplus101 mentioned, trainers?

actually

missingno isn't a "glitch" pokemon from gameshark. the 4 missingno types found in the game are bits of memory left over that have no pokemon in it. i mean, the game was made on a 256 byte cartrige and they're only 151 pokenom, so the rest of those slots come out with weird "pokemon" aka missingno, as well as you get to fight some trainers too. I mean actually fight them, and they faint.
