Reviews for "AUTOMATON Prt 1"

Cool

Pretty cool, love the soundtrack (even if you kinda stole it from the RPG Arcanum XD)

The music is royalty free and I did give credit to the composer.

Too Linear

Not a bad overall concept, if a bit slow, but Linear puzzle games rarely have much replay value. Perhaps in the future you might have several different manners of completing a puzzle, instead of your audience having to follow a dictated course of action. It becomes more puzzle and less "guess what the author wants you to do."

Interesting but Simple

I loved the story, the graphics were okay - not brilliant, but better than a lot I have seen of late - but the puzzles were very simple. Although I couldn't be bothered with the alphabet one and just guessed it, and succeeded.

I think you need to really work on the puzzle side of things, make complex, interesting, difficult puzzles. Put things in rooms that will highlight with tab but won't do anything to help, as well, because I know a few people who tab-cheat at this variety of game.

I will play the sequel even if you don't improve, because I love this sort of game, but it won't get a better score unless it gets better.

<3 Good luck with your next one!

I can see your points, but the interesting thing is that many people say otherwise. It's hard to please all the audiences and I must admit that im not aiming for perfection for I am quite new to flash game making in general. Take my games as... The first ones. Automaton will be my first series and will therefore be far from perfect, atleast for everyone. But I do believe in improvment so i'll continue to make these games in hopes of, well, getting better.

Thanks for your review.

I liked the game concept- but not the game.

I enjoy the story idea and would be willing to play the sequel. I found however that the puzzles were largely... common? I'm trying to find the right word. In essence, they felt an awful lot like puzzles that you'd see in any other game. You've spent a great of energy constructing a story for this game. It'd do you well to make puzzles that were equally original and supported the feel of the game. For instance- instead of a puzzle that made you guess a code based on the alphabet- you might have made the player fix the elevator by opening the panel and attempting to work out how the inner machine worked. Instead of giving direct hints to the player to help them along (like Y-24), you could give them different effects in the machine based on trial and error tactics- so they slowly begin to understand how things tick in your world.

So, what I'm trying to say is- if you make a game have an intricate story you should strive to make the play elements of the game support that story.

That said, I like what you tried to do- and I like what you did. I'd play the next one.

Hello. Thanks for your pointers, but I hope you realize this is one of my first games. I never did any real writing before Automaton, hardly drew or animated before Automaton and I never made any puzzles before Automaton.
I AM glad for constructive criticism for as I have stated im pretty fresh. Im not aiming for perfection, but improvement.

Thanks for your review
have a nice day
