While the animation is pretty good, it's just too unoriginal.
Also what made Super Mario Bros. Z great was the fact that it had nothing to do with DBZ, other than the fighting style, music and Sound effects.

not bad, the trailer....i will view the first episode after this post, but as far at it is, it's nice, although there are a view things you've "borrowed"...but what to expect, cause, you said already, that it's inspired by SMBZ...
Rip-off much?
I understand that you have additional characters, but I think Mecha Sonic was Alvin's idea..It seems to me that all you did was rip sprites from his series to create your own, hence the rip off. I honestly don't think that you deserve the credit you've gotten.

Mecha Sonic is not Alvin's idea, it's Sega's idea. I didn't "rip" the sprites from his series, there are websites that contain sprites sheets from many games. This is the official spin-off series to SMBZ, and Alvin will agree with me on that.

Well, the trailer is interesting (although a different musical selection would have been better), but the idea seems...different....in a good way. Alivn uses the nature of the Mario universe for power, but you are taking a different route. I won't say "OMG IT'S A SMBZ RIP OFF!!!" like all the immature people who have, since this is supposedly a stand alone series. My only concern is that the two series, since the two of you are close, will be influenced by one another. Avoid that and this "Powering up without items" theme will do well.
By the way the SSBB theme was a good choice to animate to, but a rock piece or something would have been better.
Just my opinion, not part of the review.
