Aw, kid, you got it all wrong...
Gaming's always been about companies making money; it's just that you don't have to make good games anymore to do so. Back when the newest NES game cost $70, it had better be a good game, or else you just wasted your money. Bad games didn't sell, and companies tried for good games. But now that games are anywhere from ten to fifty dollars new, it's easier to churn out some crap for 19.99 and still make a profit. I do agree, though, that the Xbox is to consoles what the Titanic was to ocean liners.
