Good start
Now this... This is the sort of originality that sites like newgrounds crave. But, unfortunatly, all we have so far is a demo. Even though, this has proabably thrown many members of the NG site into anticipation for when the real thing comes out. And I must say, I'm no different.
The thing that really sets this out from the rest of the 'escape from jail' or 'clear the path' type games is that this one seems to have a storyline. And, seemingly, a pretty solid storyline. The general idea is that you're playing as a powerful robot. Which seemingly had unlimitless possabilities ahead of it. But due to some people in high power, you've had to have these sort of abilities relinquished from your grasp. So this ends up leaving you as a small, curious cyborg. Although the game doesn't last too long, you must keep in mind that this is only a tutorial. It's only to let you have a taste of the AUTOMATON pie.
Now as the game goes through, it does another thing that most interactive games in this style doesn't do. It actually makes you feel more tied into the story. How does it do this you ask? Well if you soom in at points, you can see diagrams, rules, journals writen on posters hung upon the wall. As well as being able to find a diary of (presumably) the creator of the AUTOMATON. And for this reason it boosts the interactivity way way up to a ten.
The graphics and sound both help eachother out to improve the title. The Graphics being a dark, mysterious and almost twisted in an interesting sort of way. The lead role, AUTOMATON MK4 is simplistic yet complex. And although that may sound like it doesn't make sence, after you've plaed this game; it will make much more sence. The sound adds to this by being slow... dramatic and, to a stretch of the imagination, magical. Basicly if the graphics is bread and the sound is butter.
So in conclusion, this game has definatly got a future ahead of it. So long as it keeps to it's ropes, and so long as the storyline keeps the player wanting more untill the very end.
Not too long. But definently worth playing - 7/10
