Reviews for "Rage 2!"

Not bad, but let down by lack of playability

I may be using the cheats for this one, as its not really fun without. It isn't easy to kill your opponents, heres why:

The melee weapons are weak as hell, the steel sword didn't seem to do anymore than the stick-in hand to hand, I found myself loosing ridiculous amounts of health (which is hard to get back aswell) whilst battling opponents. The little guys were too short to be hit by your slow moving bullets. When shooting, I was struggling to get some space between me and the enemy, due to the small screen size. Even when the bullets did hit, the guns were crappy, bar the final few shooters. The rage was good when it was ready, WHEN it was ready that is. The bullets for the guns were overpriced. *Ends rant*

There were however plus points for the game, one being the multi option main screen and the clear layout of the game. Particularly good was the practise mode sub-game, which went indepth as to how to control your character and what to expect etc. The graphics were alright, and the animation smooth.

7/10

WHAT THE F WAS THAT

Grafix: Stick figuirs?
Style: Same as Rage 1
Sound: pretty realistic fighting sounds
Violence: Dude how many people died again? 300? 500?
Interactivity: You could aim at the potty and choose your strength!
Humor: Just some serious killing?

Awesome, with a few flaws

I remember playing Rage 1 and thinking it was an awesome game. Rage 2 is awesome too, but... it's essentially the same game as the first.

The melee weapons don't seem to have any combo effects, and, for the number of guns you have, they all seem to do the same thing, with relatively simple animations. I was kinda hoping for some true laser beams and BFG effects, but, I realize that's just my personal preference.

I have a little bit of commentary on the "rage" bar as well. It's been a while since I played Rage 1, but, as I remember it, it was a lot easier to get the bar going up - either the increase rate was a lot faster, or the decrease rate was a lot slower. In any case, in Rage 2, the special attacks became a very rare occurence, because I could never seem to keep the bar high enough to use them. Don't know if that's what you intended, but I found it a little disappointing.

The biggest problem with the game is the rendering. I'm running a 3 gHz processor with a Radeon X800 and a gig of RAM. There's no reason a flash game should be slowing down on me, especially not to the 1/3 speed gameplay I was getting. Now, I don't know much about flash, but, in general programming terms, this probably means that your code is a bit chunky - excessive memory use. The objects you have Flash rendering are probably taking up more memory than they need to be. I'd love to tell you how to fix it, but, as I said above, I'm not familiar with Flash's programming.

Besides that, great game. Keep up the good work.

Can i say its a good game?

yea i got a question can u make the AI not uh short

seriously i cant aim lol other than that GOOD GAME!!

Better than average, but just barely.

I enjoyed the first Rage game, and enjoyed the second, somewhat. However, it has some glaring flaws that need some attention.
Firstly, guns are practically useless aside from the grenade launcher onwards (And even then, their value is somewhat dubious), as it is usually easier to kill enemies with your fists than with your bullets.
The melee system is bland and uninteresting. Combos lack any sort of move that defines them as a "combo" (Such as moves that flow into one another--watch a kung fu movie or two :-P). Swords, while being slightly more fun to use than their counterparts, got boring, as, once again, the uninteresting animation and apparent lack of limbless enemies kicked into high gear.
The seemingly "dumbed down" graphics took a lot away from the game, as it looked much more like a horrible platformer than a fighting game. The large size of the characters meant I had no idea where I was going.
The difficulty of the game, contrary to much of the reviews I've read, was NOT too hard. However, certain enemies tend to be much more annoying than others. See case in point: Bomb toting midgets.
And last, but CERTAINLY not least... The letter A is not the letter R. Thank you.
