haha, Badlands never dissapoints!
The games are always simple, and only use a few basic buttons. however you manage to make all of them use controls and aspects int he game itself so geniusly. Like throwing a nail into the wall and using it as a ledge. This design was shown off the most in triachnid (easily the best game you've made. I loved it. though ive never played gish) and as a comparison it doesn't do well. but still, the game is brilliant.
Its like the original Mario games, but with violence and the "fireballs" (nails) have ammo, that you have to pick up. If it wasn't for the slowish pace which is just that the game doesn't always run at its fastest pace, due to graphic intensity at times, and that you can't stop running and turn around and jump and stuff on a dime, (which is what made mario a fast paced platforming reaction and timing game), this game would be fucking epic!
Either way, the newest badlands installment impresses with fucked up, grotesque creatures and habits, that are so twisted and graphic, you cant help but be impressed. the whole series just feels so god damn original its crazy! its like some massive.... oxymoron or something. a vibrant sort of gray. its not overly colorful by any means, and the whole thing seems sad and gross. but you feel the opposite while your playing. seriously this whole series is just plain fucking art. and i love it
4/5 (ill vote higher more often once i beat more levels and stuff)
