Reviews for "F2Jam v2 Beta"

Something is wrong with this one.

Try again.

XceeD responds:

Please explain why it doesn't work... Don't just say "something is wrong..." Describe why it's wrong...

Needs some improvement.

I think this time, you should make it not-so-flashy, or something, so it runs faster on more PC's (mines a piece-o-crap), because it should be much smoother! The menu interface could use polishing up, maybe smooth and simple style, maybe even have all of the menus in one, using some kind of animation to switch between sections. My biggest problem was that songs got really confusing sometimes, so (and you can ignore this idea 'cause it's so drastic), make the whole game one handed.
I would rival you're game with these features, but I don't have enough money to buy Flash. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

XceeD responds:

Thanks for the review. I tried to lower the quality to lowest, guess that didn't work xD! Well, I'll try to find a way to make it work better... Perhaps a disable particles option.

About the songs being one handed... The point isn't to do that though. It should be 2 hands like playing a piano. Perhaps I should put a tutorial mode and a practice mode.

Better then v1

This game is awesome, better then the previous one. More songs in definitely a plus, but I think you took a step back on some of the graphics, I liked the colors and the size from the previous F2Jam. The 2 different sizes and colors (three including space) kind of throws me off. You might also want to try adding some more recognizable songs (like MadWorld to the song list. But I must say, this game is awesome.

XceeD responds:

My friend was also complaining to me about the size difference throwing him off. I did that to copy O2Jam a bit more though.
Thanks for the review :D!

Alright, but some annoying problems

Well, I noticed one bug that was rather annoying. Whenever you get your grade, and you go to the main screen, it jumps back to the grade screen real fast first. You basically have to hit the button twice for it to stay on the main screen. Also, when you hit the button to start while the screen is still sliding, there will be blank space on either the left or right of the screen (due to it not being centred).

My other problem was that the learning curve for some songs was ridiculous. I could do most on easy no problem, but when trying medium, they suddenly got a lot harder. There's no smooth tranisition, and nothing to get the player accustomed to the buttons. You just kind of throw all 7 at the player at once, forcing them to know how to use them all, or else fail.

Lastly, it seemed like it only took maybe 10 mistakes to fail, which is not many. When that many bars are coming down at a time, it should take a bit more than that to fail.

Overall, it is a fun game, but the learning curve is much too steep. If you maybe added more songs, fixed some things, and made it a download as a separate program, I would love to play that. But as for this version, well, it's a beta, so you can still improve.

XceeD responds:

Thanks for the review and bug report. I'll be sure to fix the bugs.
As for the learning curve being steep... The big number next to a song is the "level." I suggest players to start off at 1, then 2, then onwards up. Some songs that I made went from 1 to 4 which is pretty steep. Sorry about that though.
