Reviews for "Ambiex (Mans0n)"

environment

Hi:

I liked the way you constructed the atmosphere for this song...pretty cool bottom and variations

good work

Mans0n responds:

thanks! it means a lot

I like it a lot... but...

I like this song a lot. It reminds me of the good days of my life. But, although I like the song, I will tell you that this is not an ambient song. Ambient music is relaxing, warm, and comforting. This song is warm and comforting, but not relaxing. I hear soft pads and unusual sounds, but ambient music is real slow and evolving... and it makes you think of nature. You're in the right direction, but if you want to make ambient music, first start by taking the bass drum out. I'm am BY NO MEANS saying this song sucks... I think this is a great piece of music that I could probably listen to all day!

Mans0n responds:

thanks for your honest review! I felt this is ambient though because of how soft and easy it is. though the fast paced synth might be the thing that disrupts that.

Great Ambiance

This song would be a great song in a chill futuristic type game.

This song starts out much slower than it really is, around 13 seconds in you start hearing the faster paced piano(?) and it dies down later for a slower paced area of to song. Anyway how you blended the sounds and tempos together just sounds great.

Mans0n responds:

thanks for the review man. And the song is actually the same bpm the whole time XD even though it might not sound that way

A solid ambient piece.

You did a good job with this, especially with it only being your second ambient piece. This song had all the right elements for ambience, and I can't complain about how it was arranged overall. However, there just wasn't a lot that was really interesting about it. I know that ambience is meant to be relaxing and meditative, but that doesn't mean it can't be interesting!

Additionally, I think the percussion, in a way, detracted from the song. The reason for this is because it was much too static and had no dynamic, emotion, or reason. It didn't work well with the song because it seemed as if everything was placed rather randomly. This song could work very well with background percussion, but it has to be used differently than it is currently in order to make it effective. Good examples of percussion in ambient music would be artists like Aphex Twin, specifically with songs like "Alberto Balsalm", and Boards of Canada with "Left Side Drive".

These are just my suggestions, and ultimately, it's your piece and you do what you want with it. As it stands, it is a very good track and worthy of notice. However, I think if you work on the percussion, it would greatly enhance the piece as a whole.

Good work and good luck!

Not Too bad.

The opening started out pretty nicely for the ambient side of this song. The organ comes in and kinda hurt that aspect. Still though, I could hear this being used for many different things. All in all though good work and congrats on top five! Keep it up!

Mans0n responds:

Organ? lol there is no organ in this anywhere. But thanks for the review!
