Reviews for "Chanter Tales 1.2"

i want more

after watching the 1st chanter tales and now the 2nd... it really left me wanting more... great job i look forward to all of your stuff

Very nice animation.

+ Animaiton was very detailed and accurate. You used a wacom tablet, right?
+ Guitar fit the cartoon
+ Very nice backgrounds and scenery
- Bad acting. Sorry man, you're a great musician and animator, but not a good actor.
- Fight scene should have been less detailed. Try using less specific frames, and blur some of them to make it seem faster. It seemed like it was playing in slow motion. Look at Adam Philipps cartoons, he uses this technique.
- Nymph's bosom looks awkward.
- PLOTHOLE! Wizard has short hair. No one cut their hair back then (at least not the Norse or the Vikings, and their mythology is obviously the cartoon's theme.)

Overall: 8.85/10

The cartoon uses great detailed animation, but needs the added effort of a great scriptwriter/actor to make this into an aweinspiring series.

Ghosty22 responds:

Nope... I don't know what a "wacom tablet" is. I'm guessing it's some sort of drawing tool. I use a mouse.

Well... I guess I can't argue with the point that I'm a bad actor, because that's what most people say. But most of the time I was just narrating. I didn't feel as if I was doing anything different from any other narrator I've heard.

I'm not sure why you think this story has something to do with any cultures that have existed in our Earth's history. The cultures here are fictional. I wrote this intending for it to take place in an Earth-like world, not "Earth" as we know it. Lord of the Rings, as far as I know, didn't take place on our planet. Tolkein makes reference to things in our world like coffee, golf, and the weapons that were used in medieval times, but the races, cultures, countries, magic, and religions don't fit into our planet's history. The same goes for Ursula K. LeGuin's "Earthsea," or David Eddings' Belgariad series, or George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones."

I think that any time you encounter a story like this one, where you see magic, or anything that doesn't exist in our world, it's probably a safe assumption that it takes place in some kind of parallel dimension, where history and evolution, and even the laws of nature have taken a slightly different course. So yeah... I wasn't basing Nuok's culture on vikings or anything like that. He's got his own culture, and that culture has it's own unique practices.

But I'm glad you brought that up, because I've had people review me, thinking the same thing. One guy said the characters should have English accents... I didn't agree, because none of these characters are English. In their world, there is no "England" or "America." The movie that you're watching is essentially a story that has been modified for people in our dimension. Most likely, the characters here wouldn't even be speaking our language at all, so accents, I don't think, are even a factor.

Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Very Nice

I Enjoyed it Muchly.

Loved it!

I love you style, Chanter Tales are awesome! All the narration and story is really nice, keep up the great work! And awesome improvement from 1.1! Your really amazing :).

Good, could use a little polish though.

This might sound dumb, but my biggest complaint is that the play button was too hard to see. It kinda blended in with the standing stones. I thought something was wrong with my flash player at first.

I reoccomnd a bigger button and/or a contrasting color.
