amazing
This has got to be one of the best games I've ever seen. Great graphics, great gameplay, great physics, even a great storyline, especially as flash games go!
Graphics: Pretty heavy detail, which makes it more difficult on slower machines, but overally just great. I liked everything from the expressions on tri-achnid's face to the atmospheric backgrounds. And even more kudos on the expressions! :D
Style: This game has a style all it's own. As far as I've seen, this is the only game out there like this. Congrats on a great idea. Everything comes together really well; gameplay, sound, atmosphere, and emotions, to create a great style.
Sound: Great music, very fitting. I saw some people say that it was a little repetetive, but personally I'm happier with more of the same good music than a variety of bad music. Also, the sound effects were great, especially tri-achnid's vocalizations. The happy sound effect sounded happy, the fighting sound effect sounded angry, and the damage sound effect really sounded pained.
Violence: Not much at the beginning, but just plain awesome at the very end. I think it was great to have the option to eat, throw around, or simply trap the glom in web and leave them. Also, the big "X" that appears on tri-achnid's face when he dies is great. Heh.
Interactivity: Great physics, and great control. Kind of hard to get the hang of, but once you do you can really get moving. I think you had a great idea when you decided to make it so that you don't have to click exactly on the foot, but only near it. You really avoided a frustrating inconvenience there. I also like how you can interact with just about everything in the game; water, rocks, bubbles, wind... especially the blue flying things! ;D
Humor: Not much humor; it's a pretty sad tale, all things told. However, the expressions and sounds tri-achnid makes are great.
Overall: Wow. 'nuff said.
A few things in addition: The ability to use a web and it's ability to catch just about anything is awesome. However, it's a little difficult to walk on the web, as it bounces all over the place. You could tweak the web to make it a little less elastic, although it's already really hard to stretch it enough to attach it unless you give yourself some slack first. Also, it's kind of frustrating to be holding the web and trying to attach it, and then the foot moves over the egg sack and takes it out of your mouth instead. Perhaps you could include separate buttons for grabbing web and grabbing objects. Another option that would be cool is to be able to attach a web to another strand of web. Also, a few playground levels would be fun too, just to mess with the physics.
Amazing game, and I hope to see more from you soon!
