At long last, we return to Ambridge
I loved the first game when it came out. In fact, this series is the FIRST horror game I ever allowed myself to play, and because of it, I love the genre now. The story is compelling, and the atmosphere is perfectly creepy even in broad daylight with a light on. I especially liked the "shivering woman", as I call her: she's OBVIOUSLY dangerous, but you can't help but reach out and touch her just to make sure-AHHHHH!! (lol)
That said, I am sorry to see the transition from "seudo-grey" to full color. I really felt that added to the atmosphere of the first game, giving it an almost Edgar Allen Poe feel of dread and despair. Also, the window was a bit small, so it was hard to make out and fine detail. And finally, my first game I died early and spent the next half hour looking for an ax that wasn't there before reading reviews and finding out it was a bug.
But I do enjoy seeing the change coming to the house (by the way, my vote on the raven: it's actually a shadow monster in disguise), and the sound effects sent chills up my spine, a nice addition.
All in all, a mixed bag: sorry to lose the graphic look, and the bug sucked, but otherwise the game delivered on the horror and shock. All in all, a great job, I can't wait to see the next chapter...well, part of me can, but the rest says "hurry up!"
