Reviews for "The Death Trap"

By far the WORST "game" I've played on this site. The transition from normal living room to "nightmarish" dungeon gave me whiplash, the puzzles don't make ANY sense (What kills you when you get the puzzles wrong? And how are you supposed to know the serial killer statistic {Which is highly debatable} without trial and error gameplay to find the right answer {Aside from looking it up off-site}), and while you did good at making yourself sounding like an American English-speaking person, you come off as extremely disinterested. The death trap dude's laugh REALLY got on my nerves. Games should involve actual challenge. In a point and click game, that tends to come in the form of puzzles that actually make you think or utilizing your items in a semi-unique way to achieve the desired outcome (King's Quest). This fails at that.

This is possibly the worst game of all time. It's got terrible voice acting, horrendous JPEGs, and the worst "puzzles" I've ever seen. Oh, and that moronic laugh for the SAW ripoff guy was so bad it was repulsive.

I got here from the retsupurae play of this on youtube... I wouldn't have bothered to review myself had I not noticed in their video how rudely blind you were regarding low scoring comments. Let me reinforce their sentiments: this is a terrible game with a larger file size than it's worth, poor voice acting, and no actual elements of gameplay.

Keeping in mind that this was made in 2006, it's absolute shit.

I played this because I'm totally addicted to flash click/point creepy horror games. I have seen WAY worse than this, but if you polished it up a little it could stand out a lot of more. The idea itself is good and there's some original stuff on here, but it was pretty easy (other than picking what coffee, or whatever's in the cups, to drink).Original to have most of the house be really clean and expensive looking with cool desgin--as in, nicer than my apartment--but then it got uneven. I just expected more. Keep trying though, looks like you have fun making these and just need to pick what kind of genre you're going for because it was a little uneven. Zombies, psycho killers in clown make-up, then the whole 'being tested' thing. When you see the two victims (CGI) towards the end, not the most convincing CGI and I was distracted that the second one looked like a dead ringer for Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back. Maybe a little more of a backstory? I do like that if you get the answer on the quiz wrong, you don't kick the player back to start completely over in the game, then people would lose their patience and quit. Good if someone has 15 mins or so and are really into this style of game. Don't expect fireworks, but hey, it's free, so why not? Maybe get some feedback from testers, friends, etc. to help improve the next one. At least you tried though :)
I recommend to players that if you only play really elaborate, long games like Ex Mortis 1/2 and The House 2 (scariest one I ever played, and challenging) that take at least half an hour of applying yourself to get through, this game might frustrate you - I honestly didn't find it remotely scary or even creepy, and there was only one hidden object (that you had to locate to enter a room, plus the big green guiding arrows are not too subtle or challenging. Don't expect to be blown away by realistic effects or the old "killer w/some weird clown/Jester make-up and costume leaving threatening recorded messages that the victim is required to sit through because they contain instructions about what you have to do to stay alive (a series of tasks, and hey, here's the key), not being horribly tortured, but the victim has a choice in this 'game' etc.Hope the next game (and don't give up on them) is more seamless. Not as terrible as some people are saying but not especially good/standout either. Also, the narrative needs work. A few cool. realistic images/photos were used. The CGI really needs work, sorry to say. Keep trying though, dude!
