Reviews for "Dragon"

Very impressive the detail in the scales is well appreciated. Your transition to the dragon's belly is subtle from the scales but I understand how much time that sort of thing takes. I'm most impressed with the dragon's eye and how you've effectively built the scales. The volume is very believable. What could help aside from atmospheric perspective is blur for more depth. I understand if that's difficult because with my work, doing detail and then blurring it seems so counterproductive but sometimes it really boosts depth.

Overall great stuff.

icheban responds:

Thanks for the thoughtful post! I agree with you. Using blur would probably help push the scale of the painting in a very realistic manner. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge of applying it in such a manner at this point. I was aware of that at the time I did the painting. Just gotta practice more :D

I really am amazed by the human (obviously the dragon made me speechless) part of the drawing.
He seems really realistic to me, although surely the bulk of the work was not on him.
I just think he should've already taken that helmet. Unless...

icheban responds:

First of all, thanks! But what do you mean about the helmet? I had big plans for the piece as I was doing it over time on my stream but had kind of decided to call it done. I know the character could have used a bit more work but honestly, I'm fairly happy with how he turned out.

You deserve every star for thinking up a creation, taking your time to create what you've imagined, and sticking to it. You must either love what you do, have a lot of patience, have this as your job, or all three.

icheban responds:

Thank you for the kind words :)

I wonder how many times you've had to sit back and look at how many scales were left for you to shade. I wish I could begin on a huge project like this and actually finish it.
Great job, man!

awesome dragon

icheban responds:

Thanks dude!
