Reviews for "Paddle Battle 2"

well...

it was ok, but it has SO many problems with it, and if you fix those problems, then this will be a great game:

i played a good 5 times through. heres the problems:

1. a game started with the ball going completely vertical. not only that, but there were no power ups to change it's direction or speed, so that game consisted of nothing but watching the ball go up and down. i had to restart the whole thing.

2. it is hard to know what buttons do what. a help page might be nice. i need to know what the power ups do.

3. the ball automatically starts, and that is NOT cool. for someone who's first time playing, he might not even know the game is going on. add in maybe a "click to start" option. that would help.

4. the ball has the same angle of reflection every time, no matter where the ball hits the paddle. this is a huge problem, that is why my #1 on the list of problems happened. do something to make the angles different.

as faulty as it is, i still gave it a 2, when it really deserves a 1, because i see a lot of potential.

this is helpful criticism. dont flame me for giving my views.

Over-Kill responds:

Thanks for the input. You see I wanted the balls bounces to be realistic. In the first game they ball bounced randomly off the paddles in random directions. I changed it to keep it's course. I'll keep these in mind. Thanks for the critisim again.

Haha, thanks man! :D

Thanks for using my track, lol. I'm honored.

:P

Nice game, though I don't like the lack of movement. Left and right, wtih a mouse?? Cmon man! More sensitivity!

:P

thanks again for using my track, lol. Check out some of my other ones if you have the time, thanks!

God Bless!

Over-Kill responds:

I have listened to some of your music. You'll probably see your music in more games. :D

wow.

amazing... I loved it! it had a flaw though....... when you press start it jumps to the game instantly. it kinda cought me off guard.

Good Game

...but not without it's problems -

1. No matter what part of the paddle hits the ball, it goes the same angle.

2. If you swiftly move the paddle towards the ball, it doesn't go any faster.

3. I encountered a glitch in where my opponent's paddle completely disappeared...I don't know if this is meant to be a rare power-up or something.

4. You should have put some instructions. I had to idea I had to be using my mouse to move my paddle, and I was trying the arrow keys, WASD, and I'm like "Wtf? It's not moving! WTF?", and then I finally tried the mouse. Also, a list of what the powerups do would be nice.

5. I don't know if you meant for this to happen, but if my paddle is covered in ice, and the flaming comet-y looking ball comes towards it, it just explodes on impact (when it touches my paddle) and my oppenent gets a point. Also works vice versa. Again, a list of what the powerups do would be nice.

6. Besides No. 5, I saw no difference between a flaming ball and a normal ball...AGAIN, A LIST OF POWERUPS WOULD BE NICE! =D

7. A music selection would be nice, or a mute music button. I hate it when I'm playing games and can't listen to my own music at the same time >:(.

8. Different modes would be nice. Like, untimed mode, seeing how many points you can get mode, how many can you get with only one life...etc etc...

I hope you take what I have typed into consideration when you make Paddle Battle 3...if you do. I hope you do. =D

Besides from that, I found this game addictive and fun.

Graphics: Were good...I guess...for a game like this. I liked the background.

Style: Basically ripping off the famous paddle ball games...it's not really all that original but I guess you get points for adding powerups.

Sound: I didn't really mind the music, but a mute button would have been nice...so would a music selection, like I said in Problem No. 7.

Violence: None...for good reason lol.

Interactivity: It needed more options...and an instructions page.

Humour: None...

Good job and I look forward to Paddle Battle 2, if there will be one.

Try looking at the ledgend on top of the main menu. SCroll your mouse over each power up!
For #5-Yes that's ment to happen.See above.
For #6-see above the above
7 and 8. No prob all make sure not to leave those out next time.

great scripting, cool idea, put into work terribly

you ehave made a great game, there is not doubt. but i won first time and havn't lost since. the time thing would largely rely on random so doesnt bother me. right now im stuck in a game where the ball is going perfectly vertically! the upgrades were awesome and easy to work out. controls were simple and fun. game was interesting. but give it some levels!!!! make it get gradually harder, maybe make levels with blocks in the middle or something?
