Reviews for "SnakeClock Studios"

Nice one!

You sure got talent, Snake! :D

Happy Clockday!

I'll admit I didn't see this until now

But it's really good! You did a nice job with the lipsync, very professional for being your first clock movie. The animation was quite smooth as well.

Very nice animation

I really dug these two snippets, but you should have submitted them separately. By putting them together you are lowering the overall impact.

Another criticism would be towards your attitude. This apologetic attitude of "i'm sorry if you don't like it, it was the best i could do", is a limp dick attitude compared to the Clock Crew's boner-in-the-ear persona.

If you consider the nature of your own animation - it derives humour from disappointing the expectations of the viewer. By tricking him, and by making him doubt himself. To then pander to the viewer's needs by explaining to him the context of the film, and giving him personal pointers on how to read the film, and to apologise to him, sends out a confused message. And it dampens the impact of your animation.

That said, I still appreciated what you did with the first clip. You created a cool atmosphere and achieved your goal in elevating the status of B in the perception of the viewer - making the viewer question his own views ("what do they see in this thing?") - and therefore making a fool of the viewer when the cloth is pulled at the end.

And the second clip was nicely animated. Although the set-up to the ending wasn't as creative as the first clip.

I'm looking forward to your next clock movies!

UberMan5000 responds:

It's clear that this was my first Clock Crew movie: back then, I did not understand the Crew's deeper facets. To my own credit, though, I didn't really say "this was the best I could do" so much as "this is what I got done".

Both movies are currently in production and will hopefully be completed soon, barring any oppressive schoolwork. I can't wait to see them done.

Incidentally, in the second clip, StrawberryClock is supposed to sneak up behind me, giggle, and get me with a taser. I just didn't have time to animate him, so my animation seems just a little out of place. :p

^^Good Points^^
Wow, this movie was really cool. You really set the mysterious mood when you added that subtle music in the background, and then how all of the speakonia was rhyming was pretty awesome. I loved the graphics, you have a great sense of perspective.

^^Needs Improving^^
I am SO disappointed that you did not finish this movie in time for clock day. It seemed like it would have been the most philosophical movie I've ever seen here on NG and would have definitely been on my favorites list. Such a shame :(

UberMan5000 responds:

"What Is B?" is currently in post-production and it will be completed by the end of the week, better than ever! :D Stay tuned!

"The Birth of a Clock" is on the back-burner for now, as I have many other Clock project I want to do, such as a Clock version of "Poor Unfortunate Souls".

Snake!!!!!!
