More of the Same...
I first want to thank you for not making this movie one in which all of Afghanistan was obliterated by a random nuke. At least it only targeted the individual rather than a large population that has many innocents. But beyond that, I must still say I was displeased with the film. Mostly because it encourages a doctrine of revenge. It allows people to cultivate their anger, hate, and bloody vengeance by exploring different ways to kill one who has enraged them. Now, while I don't condone what happened on Sept. 11th, and want bin Laden incarcerated and stopped, I still think that the sacredness of human life is not something that is allowed to be violated by any other human. This held true for those responsible for the WTC and Pentagon, and it holds true now. We have suffered a loss and injury in this country, but we can't cultivate our own evils and agitate the wound by allowing ourselves to proceed on more ways of hate and death. Killing is wrong, no matter who performs it. And besides, the death of bin Laden will probably only serve to incite others to take his place. And what good does it do to stop one terrorist at the expense of inciting ten new ones? If we are to seek justice, then let us do justice, not revenge. And if we are far too emotional to pursue the former over the latter, then perhaps we should act a little less hastely until we know we act far more rationally.
