Reviews for "chess for advanced player"

rook to f8

rook to f8 in exersicise 2: 2 would foil the plan.

Overall a good game, but it's possible for some of the exercises to escape checkmate. One such case is Mate in 2 Exercise 8. If the Black King move in E4 instead of D4 the Black avoid the checkmate by either moving his knight in D4 after the White Queen move to C4 or move the king to F5.

So the mate in X exercises are basically like a bunch of trick shots in pool requiring pieces to be in a bunch of incredibly arbitrary positions that apply only to that situation and would never occur in real life and are completely useless in practice because you'd never be able to get in that position to begin with. That's hardly going to teach me to be a more advanced player. And it's not an advanced player who would consider playing blindfolded chess, just an insane one with no valid purpose for existing, to memorize and drill with that.

But it's a unique and mildly interesting little flash file anyway.

Good stuff

I could always use some more tips for my chess play. Fifen

Hmmm

In 2 move mates, example 2 does not work -the rook could take the queen. If I missed something and am just stupid, plz reply.

wasabato responds:

the rook can not move becasue the bishop would kill the king ,the rook is pinned
the rook can not move
