Reviews for "Dwelling at the Ocean's Bottom"

O__O

Amzing stuff you have there, I loved it. . I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff, and you reeled me in nicely. Stuff like this makes me happy inside (yes I'm crazy).

Loved the chord progressions with the variations, overall melodies - it flowed excelently. . I seem to have heard something like a string instrument in the background - excelent touch :D. By the way did I say it was awesome?! :D

Only thing I'll say is before ~1:16, maybe lower the velocity of the higher notes just to maybe give it a bigger build up feel. That's not a complaint, it's just a simple suggestion hehehe.

Oh ya, I just faved this song. 10 OUT OF 10! <3. Thanks for sharing this.

Hey there! ahaha thanks for listening and saying it's awesome! :D
I checked the part at 1:16, and got the idea you're aiming for I think it could help a lot, since the speed just keeps the same before the ttransition maybe lowering it could make the coming part sound better.
Thanks for the score too and the fav'd! =)

In short, awesome.

My favourite part might have been the bit near the very start, at around 0:12 where the strings just kind of...ghost in. They never really get to a full volume, and so they're just lightly supporting in the background and the effect it has throughout the piece is pretty wonderful. As the piece develops I wish the strings had come out a little more, because especially nearer the end I couldn't tell whether there were strings there, whether I was mistaking the piano's sustain for strings or whether I was imagining them in my head. The levels of them are perfect at the start, but as the piece develops and the piano gets a little more emotional and prominent I'd say you could easily turn the strings up a little more.

In general it's a wonderfully calm song, and yet still is very much full of emotion and passion in a way that makes it very captivating to listen to, but can still function as a background music if needs be. I especially like your use of harmonies in this, especially the little change like the one at 1:26...in general the piano is just spot-on, pretty damn beautiful. Which is just what you want.

If anything, I would have wished this was longer, but I guess you can't have too much of a good thing. Your friend's pretty damn lucky to have someone like you writing for their animation. :P

Jabicho responds:

Hi there my friend! Thanks so much, yeah I think the strings could use a bit more volume after the beggining :P since they help a lot on the feeling of the song.

Thanks so much for the great things you say about the piece, it means so much =)

Very nice

Wow, this is so relaxing... once again it amazes me what great songs can be created by only using a piano. The atmosphere created by this instrument.

I like how this song builds up. It starts very slow and very calm, but become more and more intense while it plays, but without destroying the relaxing atmosphere (much like playing the first two levels of "Flower", haha).

The outro is done very nicely and careful, but I think you should cut out the few seconds of silence towards the end, they aren't really needed here.

Jabicho responds:

Thanks for listening to my song, it's cool to know that it has an atmosphere, and helps to relax. I'll take in consideration the silences towards the end, thanks for the suggestion, cause it's always appreciated for improvement.

Take care, and thanks again!

Nice

I like this kind of music, man, it's really beautiful, they have clear notes, you can hear them all, but the best is the feeling of a classical song, they all are kind of ''epic'' musics, I think that's a good thing to the music.
The piano here is awesome, i liked the riff, it really fits with the clean sound of the instrument, you made a nice melody, i think you can use more variations, but i don't know if the music would be good if you variate the song...

I really liked the building of the music, i couldn't hear the piano in the beggining, but as the song was playing, it was getting louder, and it gave a nice effect to the music, it was very cool!!

I think that's an awesome song, you have potential!! Keep it up!!

The review below discourages me from reviewing this submission at all... I might not be able to review like the person below me has, but I can tell you that I thought this was a very beautiful piece that I enjoyed very much.

Simple, but yet more effective than most pieces that I've heard on this site. Very relaxing and it can even cover the sound of kids screaming not too far away from me about some video game and things like that.

It kind of makes you forget about the troubles of life and just really helps you relax both mentally and physically. Great job on this piece man. It's really good.

Hi Fro! Thanks so much for commenting (By the way, love the idea of the club! I'll be visiting the forum a lot for that reason =P )
It's cool to know it helps relax, and most important, forget about troubles. I think that is the most important aspect when listening to a piece, that it can touch your feelings, and be able to change your emotions to keep in touch with the piece. So for that, I thank you deeply, it means a lot! Thanks again!
