I love the sketches

Overall I thought this was great, I really liked the style the backgrounds had with those sketchy shadings and the same with the 'game over' screen and how Pico could pick up the bodies and use it as a shield. =)
The gameplay was quick to react and very simple. Pico's facial expression really lightened the mood for me and made it more enjoyable. The music was a good match because of it's high pace and 'alive' mood, and it simply sounds good too.

But just a few things I'd like to see IMO:
I would've liked to see the bullets travel after Pico shoots though. Like a little black dot that just flies across the screen and into the enemies chest would be so satisfying to see...

Also more blood. So maybe instead of blood only coming out after the enemies die have a little bit dramatically spray off with every shot? (specificaly the blue guys in the first few levels).

Anyway a great Pico Day submission, excellent work Bezman this turned out awesome. 4/5.

Seeing bullets... I was gonna have a white line kinda thing, but then I though, "the bullets travel in like 1 frame... drawing bullets would just be silly."

Blood - yeah. Didn't put it in due to lack of time. But I'll totally put in proper animations for every collision now that we have the time.

Generally an uplifting effort. You liked the game it seems. It's therefore easy to praise. But while doing so, you bother to pick out a few specific aspects, which really brings a smile to my face.

constructive criticism/suggestions: You make a couple of points. Both fairly well thought out, well explained and sensible.

exposition of experience: It'd have been nice to know how far you got... maybe if you'd had much trouble dying... My only real suggestions are for maybe an indication of how far you got in the game (I'm curious, yaknow?) and maybe even more criticism. But the latter is me just being greedy. Can't get enough of that constructive criticism, specially when it's as well written as the pieces you gave.

So this is what you were doing instead of reviews

~The good~

An interesting little game with original graphics. Also, the pictures that show up after you die is priceless, like when Pico gets hit with a hammer. It's also cool how you can pick up dead corpses as shields.

~The bad~

The biggest thing is that you die way too easily: sometimes you just start a level and get shot before you can do anything. Also, sometimes you can't really turn around even when you press the back button. I thought it was also kind of unfair how enemies kill you in one shot when it takes like three or four to kill them.

Overall, a pretty cool little shooter, Bez. Now that you're done with this, you can go back to reviewing. Happy Pico Day!

First - nah, I probably won't 'go back to reviewing'. Not in any serious way. I'd rather keep being productive.

I'll try and give some feedback on stuff tomorrow though.

Anyway, addressing your criticisms:

You get warned of every shot. You can shoot the bullets out the air. Also, the enemies always have to first spawn, which takes at least 4 beats, before they can shoot. Plenty of time for you to grab a body if you feel you need one.

I noticed something along the lines just as we submitted. I'm not sure if you're meaning the same problem (holding down a key when releasing a direction means that the direction is effectively kept, until you press the opposite way). It'd be nice if you explained more fully as it does sound like you may have found yet another bug.

Pico Jr. Jr. is a human. The Uberuberkids are not.

no a Pico Catagory maker but if anything this would just barly pass if it passes at all its not very pico eather its pico jr. jr. kinda bumb if u ask me most of the pico anamation passed with awsome scores!!sadly i dont think this will

It actually took me a few reads to work out what you meant.

I think you should use capitalisation and punctuation.

Also, I don't really get a good feel of your opinions. What exactly is 'kinda dumb'? (I assume you meant 'dumb'.) Just the fact that it's Pico's grandson? Or the whole game? Your review's such a mishmash I don't know!

All I can really ascertain is that you thought it might have trouble passing.

But thanks for letting me have a (tiny) glimpse of your thoughts.
