Nice twist...
This is a good try to make an old game new, but the fact is... a game as old as brick will never be fun.

Just needs some sprucing up.
Heaven knows how many of these types of games exist in the world. So why make another one? Well, this game has the foundation for a good idea. One possible addition to this game would be powerups given when you hit a brick that is falling (i.e. wider paddle, faster paddle, bigger ball, etc.) This would make the game start to come together more.
Otherwise, you do have a very healthy base for a potentially good game.

I guess you only made this game to try to take first place, since you said the hard work went for nothing. I guess you're not taking all the pleased players into account since you made a fun lil game that many people enjoyed. Maybe you'll win next time if you create a game with the people in mind, instead of trying so hard just to be on top.
