I don't know, this one doesn't speak to me. I can't piece together any meaning behind the skull, and the character's mask and posture are mostly neutral. There's no distinct background to ground the character in an interesting situation, either.
Okay, so maybe it's just a character portrait... but looking at it this way there's not much to see. There's in interesting mask, but otherwise most of the body is low detail or in shadow, and then we're back to neutral posture.

Lemme explain this image to what I meant with it, maybe that'll help you see what I was trying to portray. Basically the idea I had was along the lines of the game F.E.A.R., where in the opening sequence, all the soldiers were awaken by some unknown presence. In this image, as he's awakening, cloudy/misty material would emanate from him and form a skull - his presence awakening him.
