Reviews for "HoT-16-The Temple of Time"

Nice

This sounds Great. Could be featured in a Movie. On the Big screen.
The Instruments are prefectly timed. The Buildup is great.
This is what True Zelda Fans Can respectfully enjoy.
Instrument Choices could not have been better, this is one of the great tracks on newgrounds that actually has you going "Wow this guy spent time on this"

The Transitions are Perfect. As a Some what of a Critic of music i see about no flaws. Good Job

Setu-Firestorm responds:

lmao Hardly. =p

Bravo!

Dripping with emotion. Very nicely done throughout, I'll try to give you some constructive ideas as food for thought!

The opening bells seemed a bit dry to me, I love adding reverb to bells because it compliments their natural sound qualities. The break at 3:15 is very nice, as is 3:34. I love the flute entrance at 4:04. I think you could bring down the volume even more here- it'll help make the proceeding buildup feel much more powerful. Overall, the music feels a bit flat- perhaps you could bring out some of the upper-end to give more sparkle.

All in all wonderful work, I can't wait to hear more from you!

Setu-Firestorm responds:

Every new project I take on is a new opportunity to try out new mixing techniques (I never received any official training for it, and everything I do know is all from trial-and-error).

I really need to read up on that.

Thanks for the feedback, and the advice.

Very nice.

A couple of things though:
1.) What movie is this going to be for. Yes i know about The Legend of Zelda, but I haven't heard anything about a movie.
2.) The instruments all sound great. What program is being used?
3.) The "Lyrics" as you said, sound nice, but they get really drowned out by the rest of the instruments.
4.) The Vocal thing your using sound good when you can hear it at 2:45, but there sounds like there might be a bit too much reverb on it. I know it's to create a choir effect, but it's a little difficult to decipher, and it makes the rest of the sound just slightly uneven.

Otherwise, sounds great =3

Setu-Firestorm responds:

To answer your questions:
1) The music was for "The Hero of Time", the feature-length independent fanfilm by BMB Finishes.
2) I use the host program Nuendo, and most of the instruments you hear are Edirol Orchestral, a VSTi (MIDI plugin).
3 & 4) The drowned vocals were intended. I was aiming more for the sound of singing more than a focus on what was being sung. This piece was all about atmosphere.
