Reviews for "Once More - F-777"

...Continued Review.

Here's the continued review from the review I made on Supersteph54. As I was saying...

The intro to the song is very good, and I said before, the buildup was awesome, and started the song up perfectly, plus the great sounding sound effect just added to the awesomeness. As for the ending, well, it was really weird. Usually Dance songs end with a boom or something, but this sort of ended leaving the listener saying 'Hmm, that's it?'. Try and end it with something a little more action-packed, and the last note having a reverbed kick and crash to signify the ending. Right now it ended on a weird note, and was slightly abrupt. You can loop it if you want, but that would mean changing the intro, and usually Dance songs aren't loops anyway :P.

The drums are awesome. I definitely can't find anything wrong with them. The variety of beats was amazing, and I liked that you used a crash in some parts of the song. I also enjoyed the fact that your drum beats were sometimes soft (1:51) and sometimes action-packed and dance-ish (2:32), and also that there were some parts where there were no drums playing at all, which was cool. Another good thing was that the variety of the drums was decent too, the beats were well done and the drum rolls were excellent. Maybe you could make your kick a slight bit harder, since it sounds a little weak right now. Layer it with a few other kicks or something ^^.

It's a really awesome dance song, and I enjoyed it a lot. It's enough to get anyone to get off their seat and start dancing most of the time. What this song has are three main problems. Generic melodies, weird ending and too many calm parts, and those two are what moved the score down to a 9. Still, I downloaded the song, and although it may not be one of your best, it's still great. It's an awesome NG song, but just not really an awesome F-777 song if you get what I mean ;). Whatever, keep up the good work, and sorry for the huge review(s). I hope I'm allowed to use two accounts :S. Anyway, keep up the great work!

As usual, great!

As always, you never ceize to impress. This is a really good song, which surely deserved the Top 5 that it got. Still, just because I feel nitpicky and fussy, instead of the usual 10 I give you, here, have a 9 :P. That doesn't mean this is a bad song - it simply means it's not your best ;).

The melodies are what I probably liked the least in this song. As usual, the melodies were fantastic, but what I didn't enjoy was that chord progression you used. It's the usual dance progression and the instant I hear it in 80% of all the Dance songs on NG, I sigh and say "Oh, not another one :(...". There are loads of other nice sounding chord progressions, but using that same C, Ab, Eb, Bb chord progression makes the melodies lack creativity, IMO, and after someone hears a good number of your songs, they'd know that you're full of creativity, so it's a bit of a shame using that chord progression. Still, the melodies that you have ave right now are still great - if you just tried out a different chord progression then it'd be great :D. Also, the chord progression barely changed throughout the song, so more chord progression variety is needed.

A few things that were a little annoying was the altenate melodies you used. There was a VERY good amount of alternate melodies, but almost all of the alternate melodies were a little, erm... undanceable (for lack of better word. Is it even a word? :S). What I mean is, they were too calm. It's nice to have a few calm parts in dance songs, but you had calm parts going on for almost a minute and a half (from 1:10 to 2:32) when I thought that you'd stop the calm part after or around the piano solo at least, and then continued with action-packed awesomeness instead of continuing the calm part for another 40 seconds. What I'm trying to say is, I want a little less of 1:16, and a little more of 2:47, if you get what I mean ;). On the bright side, the piano solo was beautifully done, and the melodies complimented each other really well.

When it comes to the synths/instruments that you used, maybe there were a few generic ones such as the heavy saw at the beginning, but overall the synths sounded excellent. I liked the synth at 1:10, it had some good pitch bending in it, and the synth at 1:17 was great. Piano sounded awesome, too, even though it wasn't the best quality, but there's a difference between a Dance Piano and a Realistic Piano ^^, and also the variety of synths was amazing, since it complimented the variety of everything else. That's what I like about your songs, your brilliant variety. Good job ^^.

The effects you used, as usual, were very well executed, and there isn't much I can say about them except praise. I really liked your use of the filters throughout the song, the sound effect at the beginning was cool and the pitch-bent square wave at around 2:05 was great. Good job with the effects, they sounded awesome, and made fantastic transitions.

The transitions are great, as they always are in your songs. The song flowed very smoothly, and there were some really epic transitions. I really liked the transitions with the filter such as the ones at 0:37 and 0:54, and 2:29 was definitely my favourite transition. Nice drum transitions as well, and the reverse cymbal you used made superb transitions as well. New instruments were introduced very well, and I really liked the buildups you did around the song, such as the one at the beginning, and the one when the square wave starts getting pitch-bent upwards. No problem with the transitions, none felt abrupt and all were epic ^^.

When it comes to the structure, it's the usual dance structure. Intro - Chorus - A Big Bunch of Melodies - Chorus - Outro. Still, it worked well in this song, but as I said above, what was weird was that there were more calm parts than dance parts, and that's a weird structure for a Dance song, so that's mainly what the song needs working on. On the other hand, the variety was excellent and the song never got boring with the amazing amount of melodies/synths.

As always man

Lovin' your songs, keep up the good work. :D

w00t!

the only thing i can say awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Woh

Dude, the ways you morph this song is just genius. The changes are spot-on, and totally unexpected. Mean-ass synths, epic-on-steroids, perfect 10.
