Reviews for "I Was Almost Murdered"

Not bad... didn't much care for the ending.

I loved the poem, I liked the animation style, and I liked the animation in general up until the very end. WTF was with the dog? It was very anticlimactic and cliched. Not terrible, I guess, but I was really expecting better after the good build-up earlier in the animation. You have a good start, I'd just suggest rethinking your ending. The end is most of what cost you on your overall score.

Matt-Merrill responds:

yeah, I promise that is the only time I will do an ending like that. This was just kinda a short, for-fun flash. My next movie I promise will go much deeper.

Fine Points

It has it's good and bad. I certainly like a good paper-flash, and the peopm was very well done. I guess there wasn't so much a bad side as a mediocre side, starts of great, but the ending is very over-used and obvious. I'm a bitch about writing, but I still think there was room for improvement.

Really Good Job

I like that you took the time to hand-draw the flash. I like when the artists take the time to put a little of their heart and soul into their work. Also, the music did fit, and the poem was well done.(Did you write it yourself? Quite creative.) Keep up the good work, and I hope to see some more from you in the future.

Ohh, a good style in this!

I was suprised to see a flash with so many things that i want to make in a flash. A good style, with good angles and black and white pencil drawing.
You draw backrounds well too, which is quiet an achevment. They have to be un-recinisable and out of focus, but you still have to get a thought of where you are in the movie.

The animation was pretty good and the music DID fit well, i think(i disagree to the last review)

Short, but sweet.

Make more in this style.

It's like... reading rainbow...

This remind's me of Levar Burton's reading rainbow on PBS a long time ago. The animation style was good. The choppiness and imperfections actually fit the style you chose, rough penciled sketches. Your biggest problem, is the audio. First, the music DOES NOT FIT. Personally, I think that something similair to Danny Elfman's style would have been better. Your voice acting, while good for storybook telling, could have been MUCH better. I see this as a common problem in Newgrounds; the voice acting sounds like people are READING FROM A SCRIPT, unless that was your intended style. You also popped the mic lots, another audio pet peeve of mine. Even though I only gave you a 7 (mostly for technical flaws), I think this is one of the stylistic stand-outs in the portal. GOOD JOB & WELL DONE! I hope to see more from you.

Matt-Merrill responds:

Yeah... sound coulda been better. Part of the problem was just that it gets a little screwed up when you stream it in flash.

lol, and the narrator was pretty much just reading off the script :-P
