Reviews for "4 Incomplete Games"

Hmm......

I thought the MG rules clearly stated that all unfinished work should NOT be posted?

Aside from the fact its NOT DONE, the graphics are so-so, no sound, little violence, no humor, and the games themselves are actually decent. You don't get alot of these anymore........

Now, for a breakdown of the games:

Shooter: Very simple, like my sickness game, and actually, almost a complete code copy of my Real Time Strategy game......if I changed the graphics to match your game, they'd be exactly the same thing lol.

Platformer: Nice little puzzler, but the graphics weren't great and the blocks moved too far. If I knocked one of the blocks off of a ledge, for example, even after hitting the ground it would keep sliding. Also, the controls were HORRIBLE. You literally had to repeatedly tap the arrow keys to make your character move.

Mouse game: Just really, really stupid, actually.

Puzzle Solving game: Same bad controls, and the walls were really annoying. I disliked this one quite a bit because of this.....and have something more than just buttons!! A puzzler isn't a puzzler if all you do is run around pressing buttons!!! ADD MORE DEPTH.

Overall, the Platformer is my favorite. Good job on that.

BUT!!! I think that all of the others could have used some more work. And EVERY GAME NEEDS SOUND!!!!!! SOUND IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN GAME DESIGN, NOW ADD SOME!!!!

That scared me for a second, but I actually went and checked and it was more of a 'strong discouragement' ;)

Shooter: Holy crap you found me, I just decompiled your... nah, just kidding. ^^ Yeah, simplicity was supposed to be one of the strong points, as well as addictiveness ;)

Platformer: Argh, I have no idea how to improve the controls. I think I'll look into that, that could be HUGELY helpful. As for the slidy thing... That was intentional :P

Mouse game: Oh no! Your the first person to say you didn't like it! Maybe your just too sophisticated for it :D

Puzzle Solving game: more depth... whoa. Why the heck didn't I think of that. *bangs head against wall* Maybe I'll work on a puzzle solving game 2 with twice the depth as a spare time project ^^

Sound. Your right. Next time I finish a flash game, I vow to add SOUND! :)

Thanks a ton for the detailed review!

This must have taken some guts...

...to put 4 incomplete games up on Newgrounds. What I saw was good, and I know what you mean when it comes to finishing stuff (I have about 10 flash projects to do). Good job its not blammed.

johnfn responds:

Thanks :P

Didn't take much guts, I didn't even realize that people hated unfinished games at the time ;)

Some really good work. . .

Some really good work, this will probably score lower than it should because it's labled, "Unfinished", you may of benefited from editing the games slightly and calling it "4 short games" instead. It's amazed that this is only ranking just above 2 at the moment, you would of thought this was worthy of a 3 or 4. Also the best game was the mouse game.

johnfn responds:

Your right. In fact, this has a good chance to get underdog of the week because the reviews are so much higher then the votes. Maybe...I could get... some POPULARITY! :P

i would say give up on the zelda game....

the others could be good if you tuned them up. What i really want to see is the mouse avoider game. your version of that was very origional. i'd say work on that... K?

johnfn responds:

Yeah... The zelda game is 1-2 year old work :P

I'll get back to work on the mouse avoider game! Thanks for the feedback!

that was neat

all the games were ok, but you gotta make a tutorial on hoe to make the shooter game.

johnfn responds:

Heh, good idea except there's like 20 of those already ;)

Thanks for the review though.
