Reviews for "The History of Animation"

Very nice

I remember you from RWAM!

Anyway, great work on the movie, or is this a documentary? Nah, Documentarys are longer...

Very informative!

Unlike many other educational flashes I have seen on Newgrounds this one is entertaining and doesn't skip anything! I enjoyed watching the smooth animation and well presented history of animation. I think I will show this to my class next week! 80%

cyberen responds:

it skips most of the 80's, but then again this is about the development of animation, not each show.

sniff...

Yum Cheese

cyberen responds:

my favorite is Munster, followed by Pepper Jack.

Thats pretty good

but to the last guy...he said that you had a completly re-designed mickey mouse...well DUH!...if you have the real mickey mouse you will be sued because of COPYRIGHT!...ohkay enuf of ranting about the last guy who reviewed...well the thumb is up for it and a 5

cyberen responds:

thank you, nice, simple and complimentary. Your review is like a fine cheese.

A huge motherfreaking oversight!

FRITZ THE CAT!! It was the first X-rated feature-length animation! It was groundbreaking!
What about the Hays Code and how it affected characters like Betty Boop?! She went from shaking her ass around, right to washing dishes, overnight!
Gertie the Dinosaur? Max and Dave Fleischer? Bill Plympton? Ralph Bakshi? Rene Laloux? Hayao Miyazaki? Waking Life? Liquid Television? Pixar? Terry Gilliam? FANTASIA? They completely redesigned Mickey Mouse for that film! How about the animated propaganda of World War II? How about folks like Jack Kirby that brought animated qualities to the comic industry?

I'm sorry if I'm ranting. I did like your history, especially with the zoetropes and such. People don't understand just how primitive animation began. But I felt you didn't focus enough on the people behind the animation. All the names I listed above are those who laid the groundwork for the modern animation industry. I understand that you had to cram as much as you could into five megabytes, but maybe you could make an extended cut or something. I dunno, I'm not a Flash expert, though I am an animation aficionado. I hope that I don't seem rude, but I also hope that you'll look into the names I mentioned.

cyberen responds:

Thanks for the oversight, but synching up the flash to the narrator and Cyberen was hell, so I don't think I'll edit it any more. But by reading this review, it will give people a better understanding of the topic. Kapeesh?
