Reviews for "Mega Man II - Skull Castle"

Sweet

This was one awesome remix of Wily's Castle from Megaman 2 and i know most of them are but this one was really rockin with the guitar and other awesome sound effects plus the quality was great and i loved the beginning with Wily, overall you did a great job on this remix.

Thanks for the review.

Might not be fresh, but it's still bangin'

While it's true there isn't much new here, that's precisely why I like this version. Let's face it, part of the reason people listen to remixes of old video game music is for the nostalgia. So of course it would make sense that the remixes should still be somewhat familiar to the listener. But, often artists will stray so far from the original that the familiarity is gone and that's not so fun for the listener.

There's definitely a middle ground to be met between being too much like the original and straying too far. This one is very much like the original, and I'm glad because I couldn't find one familiar enough for me, so thanks. In any case, it's as you said - "It's pretty much the Beethoven's 5th of video game music." - so why stray too far from something that is already great?

Stage3-1 responds:

You've just described my thoughts exactly, better than I could. I've had a few people talk about "remixing" the songs. Really I just wanted to bring electric guitars, bass and drums to the original to keep the original feeling. Thanks for clearing this up for.

Eh.

Nothing new.

Don't want to sound mean but, this song has been done so many times... The voice at the start just about killed my eardrums although I'm not sure if it's because newgrounds tends to bitch about filesize and the audio quality sometimes turns to crap for one to fit something on but...

Nothing sounds new, it's flat the entire time. Not to say it sounds bad but, it's overall uninteresting. Staying 'true' to the original is one thing but, ...Yeah uh. :/ It's hard to explain.

Stage3-1 responds:

I know exactly what you mean. Everything you say is true and I can't argue it. Thanks for the review.
