I think that the head movement is caused by the men moving their heads, and not by perspective from viewing from below. Perspective stuff would be much harder to do.
Despite the failure to, apparently, make it seem as if the head transformations are caused by the camera moving and not by the men physically moving their heads, I think this is very well done.
I'm not going to mention lack of details in the background's and hoods' coloring - I'm going to assume this lack of details is smiled upon by the community and is supported by the conservative nature of pixel art style.
Ultra hard question: WHERE is the LIGHT SOURCE?

Oh, the light source is soft and kind of directly below in the middle. I am kind of thinking of making an animation with really psychedelic imagery like from some of those films from the 60's-70s with lots of flat colour backgrounds. I am kind of interested in this effect. Don't worry about the "pixel art style", there is none, people follow certain constraints like colour limitation. I try to work to particular pixel ratios but you can do whatever. I'll think about that background, This is going to be a persons perspective looking up and I don't really know what is beyond these guys yet. And the head turn? Totally, that distortion of lens effect is hard, just shows my lack of animation knowledge. Thanks for the feedback as always.
