Reviews for "Omelas"

Different.

I read another users review saying that they though it was boring and that it was 'garbage'. Don't listen to them. It was great! Very atmospheric. It was different, but then there is nothing wrong with that.

Artist-Lost responds:

Well as for the tweening I can agree with them, and it didn't have much freehand animation at all, and an abrupt ending. However I had to cram it in durring 5 days of college finals to get it ready so I'm proud enough to submit it. Thanks a bunch tho, good to see that most people liked it ^.^

weird

It was good but it didn't really explain much.
It could of been better.

Artist-Lost responds:

Most the beginning takes place in a dream. The city of Omelas is clean and perfect, everyone is wearing white and the main character is reflecting on his childhood. First the older version is seen, then he looks to see his younger self speaking with the strange man in the shadows, (crappy tween point>.<) then it follows the child. As he looks in the flashes that he see's are meant to represent the darkside of humanity. He wakes from his nightmare and goes back to the place to confront his childhood fears. Entering the building he finds only himself inside. The darker side of him that he has hidden away. Then outside we see him combined, dark and light, finaly happy. The child version apears. Then the ending (Way to abrupt ending, I actually shaved 2 minutes off the ending that would be here)

But basicaly its about how we hide our darker sides to make things perfect but at the cost of who we really are. Ultimately causing us more trouble then it's worth

Artisticly sound...

Even if you did the backrounds in a hurry to make the dead line, they still look well done. The drawing is excellent, and it fits with everything. I think I can get the point you are trying to portray from the book...

A good flash right here.

Artist-Lost responds:

Thank you very much. I was worried that the book wasn't mainstreem enough for people to see the connection

---Artistically depressing---

From a strictly artistic point of view, this submission is beautiful. However, like most shorts submitted to NG done by true artists instead of just animators, this one is also horribly depressing! Just once, I'd like to see an artistically beautiful short that wasn't so f#^@*&g depressing!.... Worth checking out, if you're not in a bad mood or clinicaly depressed.

Artist-Lost responds:

Hehehe Thank you. Im definately sure you will like my next animation. It will come in 4 parts and be the beginning of a serries. Tho the last of the 4 will probly be depressing but the rest is going to be funny, filled with awsome action, and of course tell a decent story that will give a history to enter into the main storyline of the serries.

Oh.. and it wont have unrealist deadlines so you can be sure to see plenty of freehand animation (I hate tweens almost as much as the guy who blammed me a few comments up)

Superb

This just blew me away. The graphics are very detailed and the music is very good. I love the story as well.

Artist-Lost responds:

Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it. Have a Merry Christmas
