Reviews for "Ryan's Dream Adventure"

AH, its alright.

Nobody's perfect and I've used actionscript in the past to code a small game, but for the sake of everybody on here, stop... the friggin... sliding. No offense but the sliding killed me. Mentally, physically, and spiritually (?). It was alright. Needed: Boss, weapons, no slide, better jump (i saw the other response about not being able to make the guy jump high enough.), more initiativity, more adventurous feel, BETTER MUSIC, etc. etc. Alright though... not bad...

Sk8erGirl14 responds:

..meh, I appreciate the review...but this problem I already know...again, this was a FIRST attempt, so I wasn't going to create a masterpiece the first time around...

again thanks...

Learn from this!!!

First of all, Your surfaces are too slippery, making the gameplay a real hell. Especially the cloud part.

Second, the key-responce is too sluggish, which -in combination with the slipperyness- makes for people screaming at their computer.

Third, make a story, it will heighten the funness, since now you have no idea what the hell you were doing. Note though that, no story is not always a bad thing (I respectfully point to the original Metroid for the NES).

Fourth and last, the sound is an absolute B.I.T.C.H. You need more than just a seven tone melody. Alternatively, you should cut off a piece of the end, that way it'll loop easier and you don't have a hole in between.

Not all too bad for a first game, but it's not something I would consider "finished". Make some inprovements and this'll be a great game.

Sk8erGirl14 responds:

...the physics engine I was using wouldn't allow big jumps without a sense of slipperyness as you put it...that was a bad choice...perhaps a different engine next time...Like I said, this was "FIRST" attempt at a game, as I can see you have no submitted works, you cannot relate much with flash...I used chiptune music, cause I like it...sorry you dont...I'll keep in mind different music choices for other games...

Improve pls

That game was great besides the fact that the character slided along too much and it was really difficult. Pls improve! I wish to play other games made by u

Sk8erGirl14 responds:

...I've learned a lot from this game. I don't think I'll be releasing another version of this game...However I will improve all the things wrong in this game in future games...

I approve!

For a first attempt at making a platformer it was exellent! Very sound and highly polished over all, although you did fall into the trap that most platformers do, the character physics. If the movement is slippery and hard to direct a good platformer can easily become just frusterating.

Sk8erGirl14 responds:

Hopefully I'll be able to script a better physics environment for future games...I wasn't sure how users would respond to the game. Some games are too easy, but I guess I stepped a little over the "user friendly" line...

Controlls need work

The main character for the game was alway slipping and sliding. Plus the jump button's reaction time was slow.

Sk8erGirl14 responds:

I don't think I'll be releasing another version of this, but I'll know to try to make more responsive user input...The controls work fine...but it's the physics of the game that kinda throw off the responce time...sorry for that...
