Reviews for "Over There: Segment 5"

nice

this was a cool movie. any chance you have the full version for download somewhere? So it can be viewed as a whole movie. I don't really feel like writing a full review because it's obvious how great this was. Thank's for responding to my previous reviews.

Dustball responds:

I'm thinking about putting the entire movie on my website www.cookiedoughrecords.com but I haven't figured out the logistics yet. An .avi would be awfully large and I don't have a ton of bandwidth. It might be too long for one .swf though, there is a frame limit I think. We'll see!

Too short.

An almost diabetes sweet ending for the interesting clay movie. This part dissapointed me for being so short. Half the movie is just the credits alone, which sucked. The animation as usual was excellent, especially the card car transformation which had me pretty surprised, a well done addition indeed, using other items in a claymation. The voice acting was miffy, at times it seemed to generic, to unemotional, accompanied by several played out jokes it wasnt too bad, but nothing to write home about. Id have to say I did enjoy this series. And as far as clay movies go it is better than most of the other clay garbage that gets spewed into the portal (knox). But definately not perfect, or even close to it. Its enjoyable.

Dustball responds:

Glad you liked the movie. Keep in mind with the credits, that this movie already existing as a whole, long ago. I spent all week breaking it down into these segments, and I actually wasn't planning on hogging up space with this credits sequence at all, I was just going to throw on some regular credits in Flash. As I went through the movie Itried to find a good place to end each segment that was right around 3 or 4 minutes. When I got to the last chunk it tuerned out there wasn't that much left, so I left the credits in!

you guys never cease to amaze me

This review is for all 5 segments.... which are all equally good.

I really liked that you used characters from your own animations as clay ppl... I always liked your style. I've seen a few reviews of ppl compariong you to knox, which is fair enough as he's probably most well known for claymations..... but it my own humble opinion i think the two of you blow him out of the water.

There are some animators on Newgrounds that inspire me more than any others and Dustball and gel are two of them... just check my favourite authors! The originality you two have when you work together amazes me today just as it did when i first saw one of your movies for the first time... i think it was spin...

I've gotten away from myself a bit with such shameless flatery... you'll have to forgive me. I really did love the Over There series... some parts of it were funny and some parts of it were just impressive due to the obvious amount of work that you put in. It's not perfect, don't get me wrong in thinking that i'm just in love with your work so much that i would vote five on anything you pumped out, but any flaws i saw were too small to change my opinion of the series too much.

I have to say that the part of this movie that i really loved was the plane that nida built... the transformation really made me laugh i was impressed so much and i loved the little LED you had flashing ontop.

As ever your voice acting is strange and original and i like it for that. This was good work from both of you as always and as always i look forward to seeing what the two of you come up with next.

Thanks for making me smile :)

Dustball responds:

Thank you! And thank you for the nice review. We agree as much as anybody that this movie is anything but perfect... it's amazing to me that it even works as well as it does, having been animated 5 years ago, and then with my recent attempt to bring it to new life.
I think you're the first person to mention the LED, heh heh. The shot of them sitting in the ship was done by just pointing a laser pointer at it (you can see that the light itself is not even attached to anything!) But for the flying I actually managed to wire up to a battery and get it to light up long enough for that one shot.

You could...

You could EASILY compete with Knox on clay animation, except, your humor is not nearly as good as his. Boy, if you guys teamed up you could make the funniest, and best looking clay animation there ever was, OR WILL BE!!!!!!

The voice acting isn't that great...Too...Calm

i dont really like it

well, your teaser gave away the end. Which ruined it all for me. But anyway, i found the jokes weak thus rendering thw whole thing pointless in my eyes. However, that is by far the best animated claymation i have ever seen, and the voices were clear. the music was OK too, although nothing amazing. But i guess, its just not my thing, i like knox's animations because they are funny. I didnt like this because it wasnt. simple enough, im sorry.
