Reviews for "Xiro Myth - Mizgarth's Sorrow"

Feels very shooting

The melodies blend together very well, and embodies calm and peacefulness. Has a tinge of sadness to it as well.

One problem seems to be the violins you used, they making an undercurrent of strained humming like a broken down radio sound. Like when you put your ear next to a TV when it's only got static on and listen real close. A little annoying.

PhilVille responds:

Hey Thanks I'm glad you like it, I really appreciate it!
yeah I understand what you mean. I tried to fix the strings up because when I started out with them they sounded funny ^^;

Thank you, I'll make sure I improve the quality next time thats for sure. This is the first time i've worked with the software, So I'll keep that in mind.

Full

I'd have to say that this song suspends a very strong uplifting bass. (which I think it's too much at times) However, with all the harmonious melodies blending in together, this piece is powerful and epic. Extremely recommended for films.

PhilVille responds:

I'm glad you like it, I think I did put too much into the bass this time i'll try and hold off a little next time.
I hope I can keep you coming back with my later work!

Just simply amazing

This song really suites its title and I have to say, but this song is truly one masterpiece and it is also very peaceful, touching and calming. This song is very emotional and deserves a good rating and I hope you keep up this remarkable work in making songs. However, the bass was a bit to loud at some points of the song. Other than that, it was great and you did a fantastic work. I wish you good luck in your journey to make better songs.

PhilVille responds:

I deeply appreciate your words, I'll will make sure that I do not disappoint in the future. I'll try and watch for my instrument levels next time too.

Thank you!

Spectacular

The name of the song put me off from listening to it at first, but this is simply gorgeous, and quite well-produced to boot. I also just love how it ends.

I do feel like there's a bit too much attack on the strings after 2:30, though. That section feels like a more natural fit for legato. Overall, though, great job!

PhilVille responds:

Haha Really? Well i'm glad you pointed that out to me, I'll keep an eye on that next time. hmm legato does seem like a good Idea I'll try and use that to my advantage next time.
Thank you for your input and come again!

Nice work

I like the overall composition. However, it starts to get repetative at 2:00min. You are using the same chord progression over and over again, which implies a verse only. Not that's it's a golden rule, but having a bridge or some other type of chord progression helps break the redundantcy.

Your strings sound good, however the voicing probably should be worked on a bit (the order of notes you stack up) the bass was a bit too loud at times as well.

The piano was also good, but at parts I lost the structure due to voicing. I hope this all makes sense.

FYI: The player stopped at 2:30, and reloading didn't help.

PhilVille responds:

Aww you missed everything after 2:30?
Darn thats my favorite part.
To me its the most important part because it takes a break from the old material, you should try downloading the full mp3 not that its amazing but it stopping at 2:30 is rather upsetting.

As for the construction of it all Its ABab((ABabCD(A2-B2)) Unfortunately I'm not fully formed yet ^^; So my chord progressions are rather weak amongst the sections. I tried to mix up the cadences a bit to make up for the simple Bass figure.

as for orchestration, sound quality and presence, I'm rather unlearned on what's too much and not enough.
Voicing is my biggest weakness, I'm only proficient on 4 part vocal progression at the moment, I'm sorry about that. full voicing is rather hard for me. I used alot of parallel octaves, I'm just not too sure how else I should stack my notes other than effective doubling, But since you pointed that out to me I'll be especially cautious of it next time.

Don't worry about getting too technical though I'll understand.
Thank you for pointing these out to me, I really wouldn't have caught it myself until too much time had passed. Thank you for your time come again when you can, I really appreciate it.
