Reviews for "8-bit Boss Battle"

OMG

This reminds me of FF4 a little, but this is boss music for less of an epic boss and more an aristocratic maniac or something. Someone so evil, so powerful, but not really an epic monster type thing.

This gives me chills listening to it though.

MY COLLECTION IS COMPLETE!

You've done it again. I knew I was missing something with regards to my three artist ultimate newgrounds 8-bit collection.(See ParagonX9, nickperrin, eliteferrix). And you've delievered. The ultimate culminating jewel in the playlist is hands down this. I love the bumping break downs. Do-ba do do ba-do do ba-do do ba-do-ba! Perfect with all the runs up and down. It just screams the final act. If not that certainly racing to the final act. Impressive. Glad guys like Tabu112 and I could be a help. And as always, appreciate the honorable mentions. Don't disappear on us again man. I know you're busy and respect it but you got a flair for original tech compositions. As if you didn't already know. lol

EliteFerrex responds:

Well, thank you again, Soullink. I appreciate yout input on my work, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy what I create, 8-bit or not. =)

Very Good

This is a great tune; my only complaint is that your melody goes flat in a few places (ie, notes at 1:30) which feels out of place with the style of the rest of the song. Other than that, solid and catchy, hope to hear more soon.

This takes me back.

I'm not a big fan of the 8 bit gendre music (Thats because alot of people put together alot of CRAPPY 8 bit songs in my opinion) however this is one o the exceptions. This does bring me back to the good old NES days back when I was a yungun playing Zelda, Casltevania, and of course, Megaman! Wonderful work with this flashback in time for me! Keep writing the music!

EliteFerrex responds:

Glad you enjoyed it. I've seen you comment on a good number of my songs, and it makes me happy to see you coming back from time to time. =)

nice but

how much channels did you use? It's sounds megaman-ish, I love megaman songs so 5/5 here you go.

EliteFerrex responds:

Quite a few channels, in fact. I seperate my synths out into the following distinct channels:
- regular square channel (used as the main melody or ambient notes)
- square echo channel
- left ear square channel (used in tandem with right ear for arpeggios)
- left ear square echo channel
- right ear square channel (used in tandem with left ear for arpeggios)
- right ear square echo channel
- regular triangle channel (for bass)
- negative sweep triangle channel (for kick SFX)
- regular 25% pulse channel (almost always as main melody, occasionally ambience)
- 25% pulse echo channel
- regular 12.5% pulse channel
- 12.5% pulse echo channel (sometimes)
- "short" noise channel (for shorter hi-hat SFX)
- "long" noise channel 1 (for longer hi-hat SFX)
- "long" noise channel 2 (for clap SFX)
- negative sweep noise channel (for those "fly-by" SFX)

Yeah, I use a lot. o_O For all of you that might say "But, the NES's chip wouldn't be able to have more than 5 channels playing simultaneously," I know. I just like to take advantage of the fact that, in this day and age, I'm not restricted by the same limits as the NES, and make full use of my creativity in that manner. ^-^
