Reviews for "The Big Fat Tutorial"

Educational but a lil messed up.

This is a great tutorial. Everything I wanted to know is on here. I'm a beginner but I know the buttons and etc so this really helped. One problem though, at the end of a tutorial there was no link getting me back to the menu scene.Other than that it was great, Keep up the good work.

Helbereth responds:

There's a menu button on every single section... It's blue, it's animated and it says MENU in big letters... =)

Down on the bottom in the middle on the tutorials and on various parts of the screen for the other sections (tool viewer, easter eggs, etc.).

thanks for the review.

just what a flash retard like me needs

user friendly an all dat crap but also witty an has its own personality as well as some pretty cool effects to try out.
Flash newbies will rely on this for a long time

Helbereth responds:

I aim to please. If I can help just one newbie out with this I'll be happy... I'm not sure the blam fraks will be happy though... they might run out of things to blam =)

see you cleared up "fun with masking" kekeke

Nice one there helbereth, was way much better than all of the useless crappy tutorials that you find on HELP on ng, hopefully this would get added there, congrats on the daily feature too! Nice cover up on fun with masking though haha

ATD-newbie animations

Helbereth responds:

I never planned on it being dirty. It's supposed to be a tutorial, so it had to be accesible to most everyone.

Btw the mild violence is for the plane crash. if you zoom in on him when it blows he ends up cut in half by the tail wing... he's left a blackened and bloody mess...

It took me a second to realize who this was... and ATD didn't help for some reason...

Amazing Tutorial

The part where you side scrolled the backround was amazing. I thought I was watching something huge. The audio was also awesome. Good job.

Helbereth responds:

Thanks. that scrolling effect along wth the atmosphere and faeries were what people wanted to know originally... the rain, masking, camera and sound sections were added upon further requests.

Thanks about the audio. Making those loops took time.

[[[One of the greatest tutorials to date]]]

this was incredibly detailed. I learned a fair bit from going through this.

Your attention to detail is quite astounding and thier isnt a great deal i can say was wrong with this.

i loved that you stayed away from the normal sections found in a tutorial and made it more original than others that come in the portal every day.

Overall i thought i was simply amazing except for the sound coming on every time i went to a new section.

Helbereth responds:

Thanks, i try. I got sick of all the walk cycle tutorials and bad anime drawing tutorials, too. The idea to do this came after I was displaying some of the stuff I'm working on to folks at Newbie Animations... they wanted to know how... so I showed them... then they wanted to know more... and... you see where this is going.

I'm pretty inept in actionscript so I don't know how to make a button that will stop all sounds all the time. Each section has accompanying music, so that's why it turns on.

Thanks for the review!
