Reviews for "Captain Bubble"

too fiddly

i found that all the jumps had to be a bit too exact there should be a little bit of leeway and i also think you should be able to jump over those pin things

Sinterkaas responds:

If you get further in the game, you can jump higher, also there are other levels where the enemies are smaller, and then you can jump over them.

Looks great, though it's not really balanced imho.

You have an infinite number of lives. You could do a deduction in your score every time you die.

And how do you get past the level with two flowers and the tunnel at the bottum left.

F are flowers
T is tunnel
B bubble captain
* are gold coins

You would think you could pass underneath. But I still "pop" over there when I pass the flower.

Sinterkaas responds:

Well, I think I know what level you mean, jump to the middle platform, then jump to get both coins, then die
Now jump from the platform all the way down, get the lower-right coin, and walk to the finish, if you still don't got it, add my msn (sinterkaas@gmail.com) and I will give you tips, now go play all the 20 levels!

WTF

If you jump past the celing you get stuck

A decent begining

The game was very well animated, I liked the style of it and the fact that it sort of mixes puzzle with action. However, this game had a number of rather glaring flaws that made it frustrating to play. The colision detection was horrible, there seems to be a hazy region around enemies that kills you even if the drawing doesn't touch you. The platforms are horrible to try and jump on, it's like the last little bits of the edges are 'illusion' and not solid. It made it quite frustrating to have clearly landed on an edge just to go through it and die. Many times. Over and over. Infinite lives in a game like this is nice but at the same time it feels more like luck is a factor than skillful maneuvering. All in all a generally nice game but a tad frustrating.

Ok

But the collision detection as has been previously mentioned did somewhat suck.

If you make another similar game make the character not round. This is where much of your problem lies, With a round character you can't judge what the difference between falling off a ledge or not being close enough to the edge to make a jump is. Same with colliding with enemies, often the bubble bursts no-where near the enemies/hazards.

Other than that it's not a bad effort.

Keep it up and next time just spend a bit more time fine tuning it.
