I liked the idea.
But I think you should take care of some things:
1. can you make the background not appear almost outside the screen?
2. add some slopes, a rollercoaster is nothing without slopes!
3. perhaps some click-system (so that the parts 'fit')?
4. a possibility to see people ride your coaster?

You could have had something going
I was almost interested in this game, but one thing completely lost my interest; the coaster didn't do anything.
Its not very fun just constructing a roller coaster, you have to be able to put a coaster car on it and watch it careen out of control and have people flying everywhere! Thats what I would call fun.
If this project still has your interest, then beef up the graphics, rework the design engine so it works, and create an actual simulation of a coaster following the track. Then it would be fun and worth playing.
