Holly crap

This thing is awesome.
Really...really awesome.
I love the textures of the ink. Always have.
this thing just looks incredible.

CptBeefcake responds:

thanks, a lot of the time I think it works to just splatter the ink on, and it ends up giving the painting a grungy and rough feel that (usually) I really like

I must say,

I really like this grunge-style you have; instead of conveying the beauty of life, you show the other, dirtier end of the spectrum. Again, the splatters and other fluid-like marks side with the unrefined nature and overall mood of the work, making it hectic, but still appropriate and true to what it is. The messy text is also a good touch; although difficult to read, the key words that are visible from afar act like clues to help you gradually understand what you are seeing. It's like a visual mystery, really.

Again, great work and a good day to you 5/5

CptBeefcake responds:

! thanks for the support, I don't have much to say; you summed it up perfectly! Most of the text has an overall meaning, but the real reason I put it in is the aesthetic; I really love all forms of art, and this puts together two completely separate mediums that normally (not anymore) wouldn't be together.

Dark.

And so Beautiful...

Exceellent

this would definately be a piece that really shows it's emotionally dark qualities to the viewer, therefore making the piece great, simply because 'dark art' takes on the title of deeper meanings. Supposedly, 'dark art' is a view into a person's harshest view on an idea, concept, or even a person or place. you have most definately captured that pit of negative emotion in this, which i feel are attributed to death. Well done.
(if i have missed the meaning or have said anything you think is false, please say so.)

CptBeefcake responds:

Its your opinion... people can interpret the image as they want (unless they go into some weird political debate about it, then I'll call them stupid). Death is definitely a theme, seeing as a tree is commonly used as a symbol of life and my depiction of one is quite dark. The poem on the left side is taken from a graphic novel called "Three Shadows" (I recommend checking it out, its simple in appearance but quite profound) and it is about the death of an infant upon birth

its dark, but it has many profound meanings to those that can relate to it

just makes me think...

this is life right now i mean its shitty but its also beautiful in a way i love it man
