Reviews for "WW2: The Canadian Story"

Well...

This wasn't bad... hopefully it was for a high school report and not a college one. Well every country that fought in WWII sacraficed something, however the canadian sacrafice in terms of numbers can not hold a candle to the Russian (20 million), the British (750k) or the american (500k) sacrafices. As far as Normady is concerned, Beaches Juno, Gold, and Sword were not nearly as well defended as Omaha was. These beaches defenses were farther inland. The other two campeigns were pretty well explained. Overall Not bad.

P.S.
I'm a Junior in History at the University of Tennessee.

freky-kid responds:

Ahhhhh The british sacrificed only 400k :) but i know what you mean. And just to tell you, Canadian committed the most amount of troops for the size of their population :P

hrmm

well. it was boring. i love ww2. im studying it in college. its jus a great subject. good vs evil. wow. yea, anywayz, the flash could have easily benifited from some moving objects (film) renactment of some sort ( i kno u were trying to stay with the whole folder review report thing) a film or jus some better eye candy would have been so much more entertaining. also, since its a CANADIAN story, actually add canadian story to it. u really didnt tell us too much about how the canadians helped. execpt they were there.
sorry to be harsh, jus stating my opinion. but i do give u super super super props for having an interest in ww2.

freky-kid responds:

Which college do you go to? you can't spell. Not to mention those in my mind were the three PREDOMINANT CANADIAN BATTLES LIKE IT SAYS IT THE FILM YOU FUCKING Moron. I really wish people would consider what I write before insulting my work. And as for the moving, F-off. its a documentary not a bloody action movie.

very thought-provoking

This is very well done and quite thought-provoking. I hope you got a good grade on it in your class. One doesn't often hear much about the Canadian contribution to the second world war, at least not here, and so this is a very important bit of information to get out there to remind everyone of that all-important history.

Finally!

As a Canadian History major, first I have to point out that the majority of your information is correct. However, for the landings at Juno Beach, the Canadian 3rd division was under the command of Gen. Bernard Mongomery of the British 2nd army. During the landing, and the assult on the beach itself, which is genneraly accepted as the worst fighting next to Omaha, the Canadian troops managed to break inland and advance 7 km, farther than any other allied unit that day. Also, after the initail breakout and the capture of Caan, the Canadian First Army was fomed under the command of Gen. Harry Crerar, including a few American, British and Polish units, under Candian command, and proceeded to move up alon the Atlantic coast and into the low countries and finally Germany itself.
Other than that, fine work, hopefully you will come up with another, perhaps dealing in detail one of the three battles you mentioned, keep up the good work.

freky-kid responds:

Yea, i knew that :P wasn't the second canadian armoured brigade involved too.... and didn't they push 16km inland? anyway. Gen. didn't know that. oh well thanks for correcting me :P

Nice

I like this a lot. You should tell people how the goddamn Japs enslaved POWs to work for Mitsubishi, and how dumbass rice bitches are still buying zeros today. America, FUCK YEA! Oh, and Canada is cool too.
