Reviews for "JTHM preview"

Nice effort...

After looking over your negative reviews and realizing they wanted to gain some rank I decided to watch it.. I found your flash graphics to be more than acceptable and the music was outstanding! However rethink your voice commentary it was a little bland and you can only slightly hear it over the music. However I gave this a three because I believe that you as an artist have potential and I hope to see more of JTHM. johnny and squee rule!

Yeah...

I blammed it because I don't like JTHM and I didn't watch it all the way through. JTHM is just something for angst filled teens to latch on to and flaunt around like the opposite polarity flaunts their aeropostale and abercrombie. I've read the comics, they made me chuckle but were black and white for a reason. You fail at ruining the comic worse than the whoring of it on apparel. Go shop at hot topic and stay of the interweb before you hurt yourself.

Good

I can only see a few real problems, but they're earth-shattering flash breakers.
The first problem is the color. Johnny was more gritty and disturbing than Squee and I Feel Sick because it was completely monochromatic (except for the colors). Just black and white; no shades of grey, and certainly no color. Almost any other comic would be fine, but JTHM needs either monochromatic black and whote, or, really, nothing.
You've addressed the voice acting and animation, but I just want to accent the importance of getting better voice actors and animation. It's absolutly necessary.

Finally, I'm just putting in a personal request that you stay true to Jhonen Vasquez's intentions as closely as possible. JTHM has a dramatic flare, but half the joke of it is when all the angst and depression gets shat back in his face. And don't drop the focus on the overall theme of always being a slave to something; if you havn't read the Suicide Girls interview, please do so.

This seems more promising that the other movies

A am glad that you did not stoop to the level of the other animators who attempted a JTHM cartoon by descrating their JTHM comics. Come to think of it, I'm kinda looking forward to your work. The animation seems well done interms of how a good JTHM fan tribute should look like. But here are a few reminders that you should consider when picking Voice Actors for your cartoon:

1) NNY SPEAKS IN A LOUD VOICE. His voice should be loud enought to wake up the kid next door from his basement. Try looking for someone who speaks weird NEVER quiet. Do not accept auditions from some guy who hangs out at Hot Topic all day. Nny is manic-depressive, NOT AN EMO!

2) FIND SOME CHILDREN TO DO VOICES OF SQUEE AND HIS CLASS MATES. A guy speaking in a "woodchuck" voice just doesn't seem right and lessens the felling that Nny is tramatizing Squee's fragile little mind. Employ the help of a younger cousin or little brother.

3) A female roles are a must if you are finding people to play Devi, Tess, and Tenna. Again, quiet speakers should be avoided cause there will be alot of screaming.

4) Do not hesitate to use blood and LOTS OF IT. Nny needs blood for the moose. There should be blood where available in corners. You did a great job with the shadowing. I'll give you 10 points for that. A google search for Tourture devices should also be considered. It would seem kinda generic to use what ever is in the comic book. Be creative.

Aside from that, Good Luck!

A copy.. and a bad one, at that.

Firstly, You should have given Mr. Vasquez credit for coming up with the seiries, as well as all of your shots. You're only animating what He created, so mentioning him at least once would be nice.

I have nothing to say on your taste in comic books, however. It is impeccable.

However, The sound on this cartoon was by no means good. Squee was too low and gravelly, Nail Bunny too soft, and Mr. Satan weak all around.

The Graphics were mediocre to bad. I noticed the distance between Bunny and Nny never changed in the shadow scene, when it did several times in the scene you based it off of, and thats only an instance. You made mistakes like that a lot.

I'd comment on the writing and premise, but it IS plagarized. So excellent writing and conceptulizing on the part of Mr. Vazquez.

I'd also comment on composition, but that too, is plagarized.

Your own concept of animating JTHM I would save until you:
(1) Note in the credits JTHM is Jhonen Vasquezes.
(2) Fix your graphic bugs.
(3) Tremendously improve your sound.
